That was a tremendously fun game

If all you really care about is winning than you are a fan of the WRONG team. We might win (consistently) again in the future, but it's gonna be a few years before that happens. In the meantime, we have to try to enjoy the ride as much as we can or there is no point even following. If you don't like people trying to make light of what is going to be a crappy season, you best check back in 2017; otherwise welcome to the theme of this board for the next 20 months.

You agree in a sense that we play to win? Yeesh. Does everyone remember a thread that was started a while back asking if we have hit rock bottom? The clear answer is yes. Because nobody gives a shit if we even win anymore. What a sorry state of affairs. Well don't let me take away from your enthusiasm about how great our punting looked or those few good plays the team made in A 17 POINT LOSS. What bowl can I expect to see us in for trying at the end of the year?

You need to take a deep breath.

And, for your own well-being, since you can't stand the process while a program tries to get better, you'd better just check back in a few years.

(Nice work on getting the score right, though!)

Haha thanks! I went back and double checked it! :thumb:

You guys know they lost by two touchdowns, right?
go away douche
Why? I can't ask what's "tremendously fun" about losing by 14? Are you that guy that James Harrison talks about....giving trophies to everybody for nothing?

Everyone knows we lost. I'm as skeptical of the current regime as anyone. But allow the optimistic posters to enjoy last night. We were in the game in the 4th qtr. The offense showed some flashes in the first half. The defense stopped the run much better. The effort was very good. Progress isn't always measured in wins and losses.

Besides, if you're relentlessly negative, it seems like you are enjoying our losing just to say "I told you so".
Believe me I don't enjoy when we lose at all. But I also look at two columns. The win and the loss. I don't do moral victories or celebrate being not quite as incompetent as last week. That's a loser mentality.
Says the guy who advocates dropping FBS Football...

Dude, (and I do mean "dude", because no true, self-respecting cowboy would ever advocate retreat) you are simply unbelievable. Had you ever had consistent beliefs for a single instant in your entire life?

But they'd advocate two decades of losing with no end in sight?

Last night looked like it was going to be a lot of fun at the start.. Wyoming shoved it right down Wazzu's throat on their first drive. Coming into the preseason I didn't think we'd probably win this game, after the first drive I started thinking we might have a shot.. even at halftime I thought winning was still within reach.. but Wazzu's a tough animal to stop when they get rolling. There's some hope here.. offensive line is starting to gel, Coffman is playing well, the rushing game is going to be okay. We had our first dual 100 yard pass catches since 2013. I thought our defense played pretty well, held them under 400 yards total offense, I believe. They're certainly improving every week. Last night's team would have thumped North Dakota and Eastern Michigan.

On another note, good to meet randerson and his wife, glad we got to toast with some Fireball. Stymeman.. next time.

Also, we got to meet Greybull native, former Wyoming QB, former Edmonton Eskimo Tom Wilkinson in Pullman yesterday afternoon. His family and him were at the same bar we were. That was fun meeting a Wyoming passing record holder.

Sdpoke, why do you even care about what happens during the 4 quarters they play if W/L is only thing that matters? Just check in when the seasons over so you can properly judge the team.

Most of us realize the season is lost so the Win column doesn't really even matter to us at this point. We want to see progress. Was I pacing back and forth hoping the pokes would pull it out? You bet your ass.

Well stated!

Do I think we have a shot to go to a bowl game this year? Not a chance.

Will I continue to support the team and watch the games on the edge of my seat this year? For damn sure so long as I see a team that doesn't quit and shows improvement.

The Washington State game was huge for me personally. I saw a young team improving dramatically and a coaching staff that is making adjustments to give this team a chance to be competitive heading into confernce play. And this is coming from a person that was very disillusioned after the first two games of the season.

Hopefully we will see a team this year that continues to improve immensely week to week.

I'm actually in Wyoming on a hunt and listened to Dave and Kevin on the radio. It was a very different vibe than the North Dakota game which was a positive.

A team that "has a chance to be competitive" in conference play. What lofty goals! Reach for those stars!

Wow... He just keeps on. It's doesn't matter who it is.

Wait for it.... and......

Now I'm ready to keep reading this business.

Was definitely a good time!!! I look forward to many more encounters.

I sure as fuck hope SD doesn't coach young kids in any sport or have a kid who plays sports. "Did your jump shot look a little better today, son? Sure, but who cares, you LOST!" "Congratulations on that touchdown catch, but it was irrelevant. Your team will never be competitive."

When the team sets the bar as low as it did in the first two games, all we can hope for as fans is improvement. Especially when emotionally you know that two terrible losses will leave any team fragile and at risk of totally imploding. If you think the team is an embarrassment now, you haven't seen anything - just look at New Mexico in the Locksley era to see how badly it can really get. I'll take a team that is competing its ass off and trying to get better every week over a team that has quit on its coach any day of the week. So when we see improvement in this situation and you come running to shit on us, you don't come off as a soothsayer. You come off as an asshole.

The point. You missed it.

You don't get to the point where you qualify for bowl games without effort and hard work to improve. Go google "Nick Saban process" or something instead of wasting our time with obvious statements like "we didn't win the game." I can read a fucking box score.

One of the regrettable aspects of these message boards is they're pretty navigable even for the Village Idiot. Is Brookings aware you've slipped their town limits? Does Nick's know their assistant to the assistant-chief burger flipper is wandering the fields in his underwear and socks?

If your looking for the W-L column, have fun reading the stats column in the paper. Its slim chances we are going to a bowl game this year. We just hired a coach two years ago, and its a young team. We were freaked out with the first two losses this season. This last loss sucks, but our team improved a ton on both defense and offense. That is something to be commended for such a young team.

Being a message board, we are going to enjoy going back and forth, enjoying the good and fearing the bad. We are also fans,we support our team, we support our state, and that is why we are here. Nobody here is going to advocate going to FCS - that is just loser mentality. We complete in the FBS - every single game. The only way we wouldn't compete is by forfeiting the game.
