That was a tremendously fun game

That was a great game to watch.

A great plan, players maturing before our eyes, solid quarterbacking, a defense you had been afraid to watch learning they could fly around with an innovative PAC-12 offense, an O line starting to show that conditioning and coaching pays off, announcers impressed, even shocked, at what the Pokes were able to do.

I'm going to enjoy watching this evolve over the next few years.

I agree. These guys show a lot of promise. And this year isn't over.
I think we will be pretty good with these younger guys as upperclassmen.

Absolutely! I am ok with losing to a better team who made more plays that new did and last night WSU made the plays they needed to make to win. What is so exciting to me is we FINALLY saw the improvement we all thought wed see from last season to this. The players played hard, they played within themselves and their responsibility. I saw far fewer "broken" coverages. We looked like a team that could win some games. Were coming along, and that makes me very happy as a fan.

I liked what I saw. Certainly some improvement and the D was the most surprising. Cam is a gamer, hope he stays healthy. He worries me when he runs.

Biggest thing for me this season is consistent improvement.

On another note, Falcons are quietly putting together a pretty decent squad. I thought they would drop off the map when their starting QB went down. I think they are going to have some success this year again. I won't be surprised if they beat Boise again this year.

They plan on forcing 7 TOs again? That might have been the flukiest game in the MW last season. Wyoming would have beaten BSU in that circumstance.

Why? I can't ask what's "tremendously fun" about losing by 14? Are you that guy that James Harrison talks about....giving trophies to everybody for nothing?

I noticed that.

And when I sat down last night to watch, the eventual score was about 10th on my list of concerns.

But, great point: if Wyoming had scored more points than the other team, I could have checked off that issue too.

Everyone knows we lost. I'm as skeptical of the current regime as anyone. But allow the optimistic posters to enjoy last night. We were in the game in the 4th qtr. The offense showed some flashes in the first half. The defense stopped the run much better. The effort was very good. Progress isn't always measured in wins and losses.

Besides, if you're relentlessly negative, it seems like you are enjoying our losing just to say "I told you so".

Positive: Definitely appeared to be progress and a better understanding of assignments. Good signs.

Negative: No moral victories. If we are #120, WSU might be #119. Collision of two pretty bad teams.

Future: The MWC might be the worst FBS conference this year. WYO has never been associated with such a group (including us) of craptastic teams. Really kind of amazing. Anyway, we should win some games this year.

Believe me I don't enjoy when we lose at all. But I also look at two columns. The win and the loss. I don't do moral victories or celebrate being not quite as incompetent as last week. That's a loser mentality.

Someday, when you've got a little more experience under your belt, maybe we'll have the pleasure of meeting in person, and I'll show you how to watch a football game.

It's very interesting, all that you can learn about the game, the players, the coaches, and where they all are in the long march to trying to win consistently.

Until then, you can just check in on Sundays and see if it was a W or an L.

Godspeed!

Most fans would realize we lost by 17... Not 14.
For a fan enjoying success is what the whole thing is about. We get to be disappointed that we lost. We get to overly criticize players efforts and praise others. That is what we do. We can also see common sense. We took a young team on the road to a P5 school, sellout (or close to) stadium and let them experience their first road game.
Watching this sport is entertainment. Part of that entertainment might be watching your favorite team have to build and learn. And that is where we are. Whether you like it or not. If you judge everything on W's and L's then your missing out on a lot.
Beat me to it snowy range.

Not that I disagree that there was progress. Everyone is entitled to their own feel good level associated with a loss but progress.

However, I thought you were banging the drum how the top of the FCS is no different than the bottom of FBS. In this sentence you state "P5" like it should carry some weight, but WSU is likely a bottom half or bottom 1/3 FBS team. Thus, by your previous statements, this is no different than a game against an upper level FCS team.

I don't feel I'm missing out on anything. If I may channel Herm Edwards: you play to win the game. You don't just play it to play it. Why even keep score if it doesn't matter? There will never be a point where I celebrate "progress." This is a bottom line business. That enjoying progress and gosh darn it we tried hard stuff should be reserved for 8 year olds in YMCA soccer leagues.

Again, I find it hard to find any credibility in someone and what they say when they can't even get the score margin right.
I do agree, in a sense. We play to win. And last night I watched a team fighting to win. We didn't. So I have to beat up on them as a fan? Or, I can take away the positives I saw in the "loss". It's not a "moral victory" to talk about the positives...
It's also not a "fan" to get pissed off and rant and rave and throw your tv out the window. That's what we call... an Idiot.

You agree in a sense that we play to win? Yeesh. Does everyone remember a thread that was started a while back asking if we have hit rock bottom? The clear answer is yes. Because nobody gives a shit if we even win anymore. What a sorry state of affairs. Well don't let me take away from your enthusiasm about how great our punting looked or those few good plays the team made in A 17 POINT LOSS. What bowl can I expect to see us in for trying at the end of the year?
