Believes that nonsense of putting JC guys on roster. I think they have something like 20 JC guys. Can you imagine if they didn't have them? They'd probably hang a hundred on us.

I'm damn glad we don't fall for that snake oil called JUCO.

Agreed. Gotta get some players who can play. Developing is a great way to go. But getting some 20 year olds that are a little bit more developed that can start, or be on the 2-deep and compete with the young guys would help a lot.

No idea if Bohl is going to change that philosophy, but getting a JC transfer into UW is a harder deal than it is at Utah State (or Boise State).

I can't remember where I read it, but I just read something that UW put out about changing the requirements to make it easier for JC Transfers to get into UW and qualify for athletics. It is a done deal.

The problem without jucos is that you're left with a huge hole if a good player leaves after you invested a few years in them. Instead of a redshirt sophomore playing, you get a rs freshman or a true freshman.

Genius move if bohl goes no jucos in his first 3 classes, takes that group of true juniors, down through true and rs Sophs and freshmen

And then adds 8 jucos to the core of his guys. The hill/Cummings, wingard/grander sons and the rest.

I don't think he will, and I like the 8 or 9 commits they have so far. Just wish they could get that many more great looking hs prospects but also a group of 8 or so juco players. According to that awesome commit and offer tracker from the Casper paper site there aren't many offers out for juco guys and most of those Wyoming doesn't appear likely at all to get (PAC 12 or big 12 offered players)

I've always thought you have a better chance to keep jucos around Laramie than you would high school players because they're so much closer to seeing the field in actual games. But you have usually way high ceilings on guys from high school. I would prefer ever class recruited to be about 18-20 hs kids and 5-6 jucos. Or even less. But at least at this time for this program they'll need a boost of 6-8 jucos.

A couple offensive skill players, ol, couple dl and lb's added from juco would be perfect

No JC's ? Simple. Bohl can't find any that have played his 1950's style of offense.
Funny, as most aspiring college players look to play that exact offense in the NFL.

True this. Too bad Brett Smith didn't stick around for his Senior Year.
BTW, good luck with the surgery.

Been on a well deserved 2 week vakay, fishing the whole state of Wyoming, totally loved it. Anyway happy for Nevada, but Boise and Utah St, total garbage, but I think the border war will be a backburner and I'll be there to see Hill go for over 200 and we should get the sheeeep

You are correct WYCowboy...times (and the system) has changed. Regardless though, excuses are like assholes. UW has had a decent share of solid JC transfers in the past (past 30 years I am meaning).

Bohl knew what was coming after losing 22 seniors in 2014, and only having 8 or 9 on the roster for 2015. He did very little on the JC front to stabilize the roster. And as such, I wouldn't expect him to change his ways going forward - why would he do something like that?

Bohl can offer immediate playing time with very little competition. If you are a JC transfer and buy in, you will see the field. If Bohl doesn't try to get this young group a little help through the JC ranks, it will be a gamble.

I'd build this class up with quite a few JC players. As long as you don't go overboard, it isn't a problem.

I know you and I agree, but some don't. I don't get it. When you are recruiting at the level we recruit at (G5), not all the players are going to work out. Filling those spots with JC guys makes way too much sense. I'm not sure why Bohl seems opposed to it--maybe he is not??

You could be correct, maybe he is not opposed to bringing in JC guys. So far, that hasn't been the case though.

Then again, he has been burned on 2 of the 3 I can remember his staff signing (Young, Faaiu, Allen)

The only other one I can recall is Hollister, who has worked out quite nicely.

Exactly. The thing is he still brings in JUCOs. Just not as priority. Most argue like he doesn't do it at all. We may see another two or three JUCOs in this years recruiting, but just to fill voids. He wants guys with four years to give to build a base setting.
