Mr. Roark was president of UW for awhile when I was enrolled at UW. Props to him. But I read yesterday that he and Mrs. Roark made a gift to Wyoming Public Media. While I certainly respect his generosity, I think I'd rather donate to Al' Qaeda (for those monitoring...its a joke). I don't trust anything media related and most certainly anything associated with "public". Hopefully, it isn't that much.

Too bad it didn't go to UW's athletic program where it would almost certainly bring more good.

The Roark's have donated to Wyoming Public Media/Radio for at least three decades. Terry also led the charge to make Wyoming Public Radio available statewide in the 1990's. Prior to that, I think it was only available in Laramie and Cheyenne. His extra gift shouldn't really come as any sort of surprise.

Public radio isn't really my cup of tea. I'm not usually a big fan of the music they play and the non-music programming doesn't typically hold my attention for very long. But I also know that a lot of other people really enjoy it, and that's fine by me.

I'm thankful we live in a country in which the Roark's are free to donate their money any way they see fit and there are message boards in which other people can bitch about how other people spend their money.

Totally agree. And without Eric Holder looking over our shoulder!
