Tedford Money

At first I thought Tedford might want a lot of money or try to get in a bidding war. After all, he was making 2.3 mill/year previously, <edit> but his agreement with Cal might impact things.

The university and Tedford will split evenly any amount he earns in excess of $1.5 million in any year in those roles before Dec. 31, 2015.

So if he makes say $1 million, he keeps it all, but if he makes $2 million, he keeps $1.75 Mil for him self and give the other $250K back to Cal. Is that right? Doesn't sound like a problem to me, it sounds like more of a reason to have a back loaded contract if we reach the $1.5 Mil level.

Unless we tab him the coach in waiting and the assistant coach. And not fool ourselves thinking Tedford would be here for 10 years. We know he would come here as a step to get back into a BCS conference.

All are retreads. Some have issues. But it could be the winning combo

Yeah, that is what I was getting at. This deal with Cal might make it more likely for him to accept less upfront money.

If anything (stress if anything), it should help not hinder negotiations. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit about potential negotiations should talks materialize.
