Rumor is he will see a lot more playing time. He is a huge back that can punish the front 7 and open up for our speed guys Wick and May. I am predicting a Cowboy win 42-21 since I will be in the stands.
 
Hopefully we put in a goal line set so we can punch it in with Easton. I'm sick of seeing us line up 5 wide on the 2 yard line :mad:
 
It is the one drawback I the spread offense, but Wyoming needs to line up under center at the 5 and hand off to a 240lbs back with Lange leading the way through the hole

I guess in my mind it doesn't have to though. If I were them I would have a different set for short yardage sittuations and have the qb go under center during that set. You have more options in my mind and it's hard to spread the field when you don't have much room to work.
 
Very true. They have the personnel to do it. A big guy is going to get 3 yards almost everytime.

It is true that it works quite a bit and it is exciting but it doen't seem to make sense to run a power play like a dive and start five yards back from the one yardline. I guess I have seen us stuck in that position too much this year and not just on goal lines but when we have like two yards to go for a first down.

Sure worked great on 3rd and 1 when we were up by 7 and just needed a fresh set of downs to pretty much ice the game...

Yeah, that blame lies solely on Kirk again...
You know if Smith was in there we got the first and iced the game.

Are you sure? I know what was said, but if that's the case the whole offense was confused, because his lead blocker and half the line went the same way he did.
 
Remember the old 4th an short play Vic Koening? Line up under center and when the whistle blows plow forward. That would be a great play call.

Hmm... I am not sure. I was working and didn't get the game up til OT started. If the lead blocker went the same way then I'd say it was Kirks fault
 
Although the spread offense is all cutesie and fun, there is a reason the NFL runs traditional power football. Sure they sprinkle some in, but the gimicky $### can only get you so far. Line up and hit someone in the mouth for one yard. I love watching Oregon and such run the high tempo spread attack, but seeing wyo stall out inside the five three times vs Toledo and then can't get one dam yard vs Nevada,....just getting old. Run a dam power play already.

Actually, the spread offense is beginning to spread in the NFL. It's a slow transition, but it is popping up more and more often.

i am not disagreeing that it is starting to "pop" up here and there, but when you get a team on the 1, 2, or 3 yard line, you very very rarely see someone step back 3 yards for a snap. I bet the % of them being under center is far and above shotgun.

I am fine with the spread. I just also see a team HAVING to have the flexibilty of giving it to a big running back with a head of steam and getting into the endzone. I love at someone like Easton and if you can give that dude a running start, he will more than likely get a yard or two. When he is flat footed, then we hand it to him 3 yards deep on trap block, although it could work, seems like we aren't utilizing his strength.

Oregon definitely tailors their offense to players. Yes, they run a spread type offense. They modified it to the players. Blount ran more inside. LaMichael James was both and now D'Anthony Thomas and Barner are not pounding backs. Yes, it works, but when they need a yard, they have the speed to run the spread. I don't think we do. Therefore, get lange back there leading for him and let him run a freakin power-I dive up the middle and get a yard.
