Tanner Simpson

Just a quick update on Tanner. He had a great redshirt fall and made some noise among the coaching staff with his work ethic and athleticism. He is in the midst of the winter conditioning "Winner's Edge" and is doing great. He has added ten pounds and increased his speed as well as his strength. He stacks up nicely with the other receivers on the team. He has met the Mountain West standard in a few of the tests and is close in several others. His standing Long Jump was 10'6" which would have placed him very high in this years NFL combine. He suffered a couple of injuries this year but was never sidelined for a single practice, conditioning session, or weight lifting session. No promises are ever made to any athlete but Tanner is working as hard as he can to secure a roster spot with the Cowboys.

It was funny, in 2001 Rock Springs used a Cream colored orange And White as secondary and then black as trim. It wasn't real bad but, it was kind of during that phase that UW was changing their colors to softer tones too.

Rock Springs will always be Orange, Black & White that is that were from my brothers and sisters and that is what they were for me there is no acceptable substitute!

Have to brag a little it seems that kid from Lander who many though could not play D1 football is shining in Spring ball. I know it is early and it is spring ball but he is running with the 2's and making some noise. Not to mention the little sucker can still dunk a little! Ha ha. Any way here is an excerpt from trib.com about today's scrimmage.

SIMPSON SHINES:
Lander redshirt freshman wide receiver Tanner Simpson finished with six receptions for 82 yards while working exclusively with the second-team offense.

Simpson caught a 42-yard pass from Jason Thompson to set up a touchdown and had three other receptions that resulted in first downs.

The 6-foot-2, 178-pound Simpson was a standout athlete at Lander, earning Star-Tribune Super 25 honors his senior year in addition to being named all-state in basketball and winning three state titles -- high jump, long jump and 110-meter hurdles -- in track.

Simpson, who won the Milward Simpson Award after his senior year, had scholarship opportunities for both football and track at smaller schools, but chose to walk on at UW.

I completely agree. I will always be Orange and black in my heart under Brown and Gold.

Cheyenne East has always been powder blue and black and Cheyenne Central has always been Red and Black. What are the school colors for Cheyenne South?
