Surprise player so far

Who is your breakout player so far? Someone you didn’t expect.

I guess mine would be Garrett Crall. 22 tackles 1.5 sacks 2.5 tfl. I heard coaches mention him during fall camps but I definitely noticed this freshman on the field.

Logan Wilson. I was afraid our linebacker corps would be a weakness this season. Thanks to him, it's been anything but.

Youhanna Ghaifan. We already knew Granderson was a beast last year, and only halted when he was injured, but the young Ghaifan has been a force on the line that has made a huge impact for the defense this year.

He has been great

I wouldn't consider Yoyo or Logan as surprises.

I'm surprised that our freshmen punter is starting to really come into his own. I figured he would struggle this year, especially after his Charlie Brown kick against Iowa.

I would agree with that, though maybe others didn't expect them to do well this year?

My biggest surprise would be Tyler Hall. Didn't realize he was so athletic. And while he didn't do anything this week, I could throw Austin Fort in there too.

Tyler Hall, Rico Gafford and Cooper Rothe

Rothe has been solid this year and he was instrumental in the border war win in horrible kicking weather. Going to give it up to the kicker.

Gafford has turned into a true lockdown corner. Did not see this coming after the defensive debacles of last year.

Tyler Hall is an electric playmaker. We have him and Wilson (we already knew he was a playmaker) for another two years!

This would have been my pick.

All Tyler Hall did was shut down Michael Gallup....the #1 WR in the nation!
Please give him just one play on offense!!!!! He played some Slot and WR in HS

But Overall I think you could point to every member of the defense and say they have really stepped up this year

This is definitely true. They actually look like a cohesive unit with an overall game plan.

Vigen would probably run him up the middle lol

Although I'm not as down on Vigen's playcalling as some of you guys I thought this was funny.

Fly Sweep. Guaranteed.
Hey we got our longest run play of the year off that call!

You watch, Conway will get a big TD on one of those calls. Once the DB leaves his man to try and make the tackle.

Austin Fort.

Dude has consistently gotten open. Even against Boise several times. One he had a wide open TD that was a misfire from Josh.
