Bob Stitt wants to be the Wyoming head coach. Bring him on!

This is such a bizarre article/puff piece. What exactly is "a source close to the situation"? Why only one source? Why no other follow up? And the declined comment sentence from Stitt at the end made me laugh too. But shit, why not? It really can't get much worse I guess.

I'm trying to come to grips with the fact that I'm now a fan of a laughingstock of a football program. I guess SJSU and Utah State were bottom feeders in the last decade and they've risen but hope has faded for me... fast.

Stitt has "declined comment" on all of his head coaching interviews during his time at Mines. I think it is the appropriate response from him. But I agree that it is a bizarre article to state "Stitt wants to be the Wyoming head coach" with no apparent actual statement from Stitt to say so.

If Stitt gets the nod, it will be absolutely imperative to bring in a great D-Coordinator as that is not Stitt's strength.

That is exactly why a D-coordinator should be an independent hire. Stitt doesn't get to chose. Burman and/or a committee does that, just like they chose the head coach/O-coordinator. Burman also gets to fire the D-coordinator.

Can he recruit D1 players? Does his current staff have D1 capabilities/recruiting ties? I just see to many question marks that would be addresses better by a current D1 coach, but he looks to be a qualified OC/HC in waiting if were are able to pick up someone like Petrino.

I would rather have Brock Spack ( I think it is gonna happen).

I'm sold. I want someone who not only has the energy and passion to recruit great athletes (james franklin) but an X and O genius as well. Sounds like the perfect candidate and I would not be upset if we hired him

I don't think you make it far without taking risks. I also like the idea of the D-Coordinator being independently hired; although, you have to hope that the personalities will mesh.

No way. However, if we hire a defensive minded coach, than Stitt would seem to be an intriguing OC candidate. If we are serious about competing in the MWC than our OC should make about 2-3 times what most RMAC coaches make (I don't know Stitt's exact comp).

The knock will be his lack of D-1 experience and recruiting ties as he has never had to recruit players at this level, but you can build those skills with the rest of the staff.

Mediocre? lol.. do you even know anything about Stitt? He fields one of the best D2 teams out there. FBS coaches call him for advice on offense.

I'm Chadron State graduate. I have watched Mines since 1996. They are usually an unranked, third or fourth place team that rarely makes the DII playoffs. They haven't done much since Chad Friehauf graduated. So yes, I know all about Stitt. Like I said, mediocre. If we are going to go the lower level route, it should be someone absolutely dominating (i.e. Bohl)

You don't know shit. Mines has been the most consistent team in the RMAC the last 10 years (with less talent). In case you missed it: MINES 23 chadron state 0.

Ha. Nope I saw it. But since Pueblo came into the RMAC Mines and CSC are both also-rans. And I do "know shit." When is the last time Mines made the playoffs or won a conference title? To make the jump from D2 to FBS would take a transcendent talent. Stitt, while a good coach, is not that.

This is what I think. He has stated in the past he is willing to come up to FBS abd be a OC if he has complete control of the offense. I say we do it. Hire a Defensive minded coach and get stitt onboard for offense where he can learn the ropes of FBS.
