Bob Stitt wants to be the Wyoming head coach. Bring him on!

As OC yes. I am a big fan and would love to get a defensive minded HC that would be willing to completely turn the offense over to Stitt.

BIG difference between D-I and D-II. And besides, coaching at Harvard and Mines, he only has to tell the players ONCE what he wants and they get it. Might be a lot different in PokeLand. But still I like him -- lots of combinations for word plays on his name if things go wrong.

Stitt is very intriguing - I'm just not sure that Burman can swing from his heels on this one with a guy still making his bones at a much smaller school...although his record of success with severe limitations is extremely impressive.

No thanks.

Can you imagine though?

Shyatt Happens / Stitt Happens. We would be full of it. Shit that is.

And having watched Stitt's offenses over the years...his play calling is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Dave Christensen's ever will be.

If Stitt gets the nod, it will be absolutely imperative to bring in a great D-Coordinator as that is not Stitt's strength.

I respect the guy and admire what he has accomplished but in all honesty I feel that it would be a mistake for him to be the next HC at Wyoming. I do feel that he would be another Joe Glenn and recruiting is so critical at this level and with this program in particular that I feel we need someone that has experience and winning experience at recruiting Div. 1 talent and this just doesn't have that experience.

I understand that, but D-2 players aren't MW Championship caliber players. I'm just worried that it would all translate well not doubting his abilities or qualifications.

Stitt has had MUCH BIGGER recruiting challenges at Mines than Wyoming will ever have.

I understand the academic standing of Mines, but he also is not having to play against top flight schools so he DOESN'T have to recruit top flight athletic talent to compete, just really intelligent kids that are marginally athletic. Recruiting to Wyoming would be a very different set of challenges because he wouldn't be playing Alamosa or other such schools.

sorry, but Stitt isn't the guy. We need to have rock solid hire. No more f ing projects

I agree with the bolded, they tore BHSU apart this year. His team uses the hurry-up properly. BHSU had to hurry their defensive calls which meant Mines knew the coverage each play. Mines adjusted accordingly and killed BHSU.

I wouldn't want the guy as head coach but I think he would make a better offensive coordinator than Dave Christensen.

Mediocre? lol.. do you even know anything about Stitt? He fields one of the best D2 teams out there. FBS coaches call him for advice on offense.

I also mean in regards to recruiting. Such a drastically different level of player needed.

I do not have an opinion on Coach Stitt, however I do not think that we can completely reject coaches from lower divisions. I think that Ohio State hired Jim Tressel from Youngstown State at about the same time as we hired Joe Glenn. While Coach Tressel got into trouble, it was not because he was unable to identify D1-A caliber athletes, even though he was stepping up a level. I suspect that several premier D1 coaches cut their teeth at the lower divisions and worked their way up the ladder.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater here.

SDPokeFan probably expects Stitt to win multiple national championships at Mines; which is ridiculous considering the focus of the school and academic standards. Prior to Stitt coming to Mines, Mines had I believe one winning season in the prior 50 years and numerous winless seasons. Since he took over in 2000, Mines has had one season under .500.

Stitt is definitely not a mediocre coach as you have pointed out.

This is such a bizarre article/puff piece. What exactly is "a source close to the situation"? Why only one source? Why no other follow up? And the declined comment sentence from Stitt at the end made me laugh too. But shit, why not? It really can't get much worse I guess.

I'm trying to come to grips with the fact that I'm now a fan of a laughingstock of a football program. I guess SJSU and Utah State were bottom feeders in the last decade and they've risen but hope has faded for me... fast.
