So it was a brutal week for the Pokes bball team. We can't hit a jumper, but... This team is amazingly athletic. A good portion of this team are playing D1 games for the first time.
I have seen a couple games in person and the DU game on TV. I still have never seen a UW team as long and athletic as this team. Granted, I have only been following Wyoming sports since the mid eighties, but still. This team is quick and will learn not to pick up the "dumb" fouls. I do think we will see silly turnovers all year as that is unfortunately part of having a very athletic team.
With Afam in the lineup and healthy we would have beat both Monmouth and Hampton. Losing our only real threat from three really allowed both teams to pack it in close. DU had no answers for us in the first half. The second half Scott outcoached Schroyer, but it didn't help that no shots fell. Please note we had some very good looks that we just missed. Losing Afam the last five minutes didn't help, since he was having a big game.
We also have beat two decent D1 teams in Pepperdine and Boise State. The Pokes just need a leader to emerge, that hasn't happened, but it will.
Has everyone forgotten that we graduated four starters from last year's team? Ogirri was Schroyer's only guy from those four and look what a second half he had. This is truly the first time in years, where I am thinking we will legitimately be better next year and not saying, but too bad Ewing, Richardson, etc are graduating. This team loses no one next year.
I am sorry for the rambling, but this team deserves more of a shot than just seven games before we judge them so harshly.
