Steve Fisher's Big Mouth

Just throwing this out there, but I highly doubt that Fisher is that concerned about Schroyer so much as he is concerned about UW's "six-week jump" on begining the search. With names like Gillespie being thrown around, I think he's maybe a little concerned. So concerned that he needs to spout off about how "unprofessional" Wyoming is and slander the school in public. HIs little rant would have meant a little more if he had done some research and found out that Schroyer was the one that asked for the conference at that time in the season. It was during the conference that both Burman and Schroyer realized that the firing was inevitable and there was no point in riding that train -- for both of them. Plus, I think there should be some credit given to Langley. The team is playing better. Everyone is getting a lot (or more) minutes and the players actually look like they're having fun.

OK, a couple thoughts here:

1) The argument that Steve Fisher is concerned of the names being tossed around as possible coaching candidates is ridiculous. While I don't agree with what Fisher said, he is still a damn good basketball coach. This is a guy who was a head coach in 3 national championship games and took an SDSU team at a lower point than we are right now and took them to the NCAA tourney 2 years later. If Steve Fisher is concerned about who we hire as our next head coach, it's because he wants us to get a good one so we can have another competitive team in this conference.

2) This is the typical shit you see in almost every profession. People tend to see those involved in their chosen profession as "extended family" and always feel the need to defend them...even when they are getting what they deserved. I've seen it a million times in the medical field...anytime a doctor gets sued, most other doctors rush to his defense even when the evidence suggests he probably fucked up. Makes no sense to me, but Steve Fisher probably thinks he is doing his duty and feels some sense of moral obligation to make those statements.

Yep, and you got Ass-tec fans now clamoring about this (the response in the blog for one), and BY-nerU fans chiming in to make it somehow relevant towards their school.

But like I said on the MWC board, I don't give a damn what Steve Fisher thinks, Schroyer had to go, he was not only killing our program, but also hurting the player's morale and no one was having any fun. Now that he's gone, the players are actually functioning as a somewhat functional team.

Does this mean we can replace BYU with SDSU? Because they had 1 winning season in 10 years, and already some of them talk like they have been conference champs 8 times or something.

Fisher has no room to talk. Anyone remember the major scandals at Michigan when he coached there?

Plus, I doubt that SOB was aware of what was going on at UW internally.
