If he goes to OU, it will be because of Teyon Ware (as LanderPoke mentions). Ware was an assistant at Wyoming for the past 8 years and then left last month to take the same job at OU where he is from (Edmond).

And Ware went to OU because they can offer more $$.

I would also assume that OU wrestlers get more NIL opportunities than UW wrestlers.

Good athletes with options will largely not stay at UW going forward...this will only accelerate.

OU is in Norman, just south of OKC. Edmond is just north of OKC.
 
This is a gut punch. After the great recruiting class we just had it sucks that the guys making us good are leaving

I believe he will because I believe he is the best 197lber in the country this year. NIL and transfer portal will make it damn near impossible for Wyoming to retain elite athletes (Neyor, Buchanan). How we kept Ike in basketball is a miracle and you can bet that there was definitely money involved.

Buchanan has as good a shot as anyone since Ferrari got kicked out of Oklahoma state for sexual assault. It would just really be a gigantic kick in the nads to have a wrestler that started the season on our roster win a national championship. A championship that SHOULD be ours.

From day 1 Ferrari has come across as a gigantic tool with some real issues. So I wasn't sad to see him kicked out of OSU.

But yea, heartbreaking that we won't get to enjoy a National Championship and now Buchanan is directly competing against us in the same conference.
