Step Away From the Cliff

We got beat by a well-coached team that played great tonight. We win that game 7/10 times. Tonight wasn't the night. Lots of weird stuff happened along the way.

Perfect timing for a bye. Let Rufran heal. Bring us back down to reality.

Our D got exposed tonight.

Good win, Bobcats.

No, we win that game 999/1000 . That team wouldn't have beat Nevada or Air Force tonight but throw in some Mother Nature fucking bull shit and u never know

Disagree. Lost to the better team.

Why is a Sun Belt team in their 2nd year of FBS football a better team than us? That's the difficult question. Obviously credit goes to Franchione. Great job he is doing, just like he did at UNM and TCU.

Defense matters. Until DC figures that out, we will never be relevant.

I can't explain what happened. But I am not ready to throw in the towel on the season. TSU D was great tonight. Our O was not.

And our D was pathetic.

It would help if our head coach's ball's wouldn't slip up into his intestines before the half of every game he has ever coached except one....and his team scored in that game phuckin PUSSIE

Texas State's front 7 was all over Brett Smith tonight. Had no time to throw all night, and they bottled him up from running and improvising. That's where our offense really becomes zero dimensional. Wick was taken out of the game. TSU played some good defense tonight. I didn't expect that.

Wick and Miller could barely get past the line of scrimmage. Everything starts in the trenches, and we were pushed out of them all night.

Thats what I dont understand. Why Wick had only 4 carries blows my mind. Without him brett doesnt get the outside zone read runs. I thought with a tie game you go to the read option and run more to keep the pressure off brett. We got out coached and out played by a more determined hard nosed team. We went soft and our defense followed. Way to go DC.

Miller and Smith couldn't run either.. Miller ripped off one nice run up the middle, otherwise nothing. No one had success. We went into panic mode in a hurry, it felt like.

I get we couldnt run early but never give wick the ball at all after the 4 hour break? So much for selling out. No wonder brett was under pressure all night they new Wick was on the sidelines. All they had to do is key on Brett ALL NIGHT.

I disagree, Texas State has a better D especially their line, they have a better O line, running backs and kick returners. We have a better QB and receivers. We play 10 times they win 7.

The whole team was to blame yesterday (apart from kicking - that was a very good performance). Smith wasn't chased THAT much more than usual, but he sure was way more off on his throws. How many times did he throw behind his receiver? And the interception? That was just BAD.

Sure it doesn't help Rufran got injured, but he's usually on the money... and that's where he was when the lightning break happened. This game was a lot like that stupid New Mexico game in 2006 where the team played well, then an extended lightning break happened and we got owned after.

That didn't happen during the other two lightning breaks this season, so I thought we'd be fine this time around. Apparently I was wrong. :(

Oh well - it wasn't a division game, and now the team's had a serious reality check.

Horribly coached, horribly executed. Our defense almost looked as if they took a dive. High school teams execute fundamentally better on defense than what I saw last night. Apparently we need to see if John Deti can show Tormey and Christensen how to teach tackling.

Our defense hasn't been good all year, and Texas State showed what happens when the offense isn't hitting on all cylinders. Tormey had a shit defense last year, and he has a shit defense this year. We need to get back to the old days of Wyoming football, when our defenses were feared, not laughed at. We need some kids like Mitch Donahue who got so wound up before a game you couldn't even approach them for fear of getting attacked. Instead we have a collection of kids who are afraid to go out there and whip somebody's ass. Mark this down, if this defense can't get it fixed and start stopping the run, the Pokes will be lucky to win 1 more game this year and will finish exactly as they did last year. If they figure out how to tackle and pass defend, they have a decent shot at winning 7 or 8 games. I hope they can get things fixed, but with Tormey calling the shots, I don't have a great deal of confidence that they do. Another performance like this and Tormey needs to be gone.

the field was wet which makes it difficult to make crisp cuts for our wide receivers to go fast and it makes it harder for brett to grip the ball and put everything into his throws.

Before the torrential rain storm and three hour delay Brett was lights out and we were really marching down the field. After the break everybody on the offensive side of the ball was out of sync and we had three and outs like crazy. That caused our defense to be on the field longer and consequently made their offense (especially run game) look very good.

I chalk up this loss to dumb luck and a determined Texas State team. I agree we win this game more often then not but tonight just wasn't our night. If we were a power running team the weather isn't an issue but we rely on speed and great running routes by the WR and timing by our qb and it simply wasn't on tonight after that storm.
