Chris is now a pro. . .
How exciting for Chris Prosinski--the Cowboy football program, and the entire state for that matter--to be selected in the fourth round of the NFL draft. In case you missed it, Jacksonville selected the Buffalo, Wyo., native with the 121st pick of the draft. That is the highest a Wyoming Cowboy has been picked since offensive tackle Steve Scifres was drafted with the 83rd pick of the 1997 Draft. Prosinski was the 24th pick of the Fourth Round and Scifres was the 23rd pick of the Third Round. We all will watch the native son with great interest. To learn more, visit here.

Maintaining the momentum. . .
With the hiring of Larry Shyatt, men's basketball received a great jump start, and the new Cowboy head coach and his staff have continued to build momentum during this off-season. The staff has signed five student-athletes to letters of intent, and have given the faithful a reason to get excited. In case you missed it, the new Cowboys are Tyrone Marshall (6-8, forward, Denver, Co.); Riley Grabau (6-2, guard, Boulder, Co.); Darrious Gilmore (5-9, point guard, Jones County Junior College, Ellisville, Ms., native of Baltimore, Md.); Lekan Ajayi (6-11, post, Lagos, Nigeria), and Larry Nance Jr. (6-7, wing, Richfield, Oh.). It'll be fun to see these young men grow with the program. To learn more, visit here.

Football tickets going well. . .

Season tickets for the Cowboys 2011 football season continue selling at a record pace. Through Tuesday morning, 8,300 season tickets had been sold, 36 away from the all-time record. That number is 1,480 ahead of where we were for the Texas game two years ago at this stage. Specifically for the Nebraska contest (September 24), 20 percent of the roughly 7,000 available single-game tickets have been sold.

A total of five Cowboy Joe Club levels have had the opportunity to buy tickets for that game. The Golden Spur and Silver Spur levels are currently "on the clock" through May 13. Trail Boss and Top Hand (eligible for up to 6 tickets) will have opportunity at Nebraska tickets from May 16 through May 27. Members at the Steer-A-Year and Wrangler levels (up to four tickets) are scheduled for May 30 through June 10,and Century Club (up to two tickets) from June 13th through June 24th. Remember these opportunities are subject to ticket availability. When the tickets are gone, they're gone. Again, the only way to assure tickets to the Nebraska game is to purchase season tickets.

The Family Plan option for football fans already has set an all-time record. As of Monday 802 Family Plans had been sold. A family taking advantage of this offer will receive two adult season tickets and two youth season tickets for a total of $500. Family Plan locations in War Memorial Stadium are in section 28 on the east side of the stadium, and HH on the west side. Family Plans and season tickets are on sale now. Cowboy Joe Club News. . .
The Club will host an event Thursday (May 5) at the Scottsbluff (Ne.) Country Club Golf Course. Cowboy offensive coordinator Gregg Brandon will be the guest speaker. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.

Don't forget that the Cowboy Joe Club golf series resumes next week with three events in four days--Riverton (May 13, Country Club), Gillette (May 14, Bell Nob) and Denver (May 16, Fox Hollow). There is still room for golfers to register for all three tournaments. There are a total of 16 events in the series throughout the summer. For a full list of dates and more information, visit here.

Last Week. . .
The Cowgirl tennis team closed out its season with a huge victory over San Diego State in the opening round of the Mountain West Conference Tennis Championships at Ft. Collins, then lost to eventual champion, Utah, in round two. Here's an interesting aside. Due to poor weather conditions in Ft. Collins last Saturday, the championship match between Utah and TCU was moved to Wyoming's new indoor tennis facility. It was a first-class venue, and everything went smoothly.

The Cowgirl track team won the Front Range Track Championships run at Ft. Collins last Sunday. The Cowboys finished third. The event was originally scheduled for Laramie on Saturday, but bad weather forced the move to Sunday, and Ft. Collins. The Cowgirls won 12 events including Ashley Hutchinson winning both the shot put and the hammer throw for Wyoming. On the men's side, Mario Harris set a new school record in the 200-meter run with a time of 20.87 seconds. Greg Miller won both the 1,500-and-3,000-meter runs.
