Hopefully you have your tickets for the New Mexico Bowl by now. If not, they are still available online or at the UW Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets are $40 each. All tickets ordered through game day will be placed in "will call" at New Mexico's University Stadium, site of the New Mexico Bowl. If you cannot make the game but would like to donate tickets you may do so through the ticket office. Those tickets will go to underprivileged children and military personnel in the Albuquerque area. The honors and awards keep coming for the Cowboy football team. Quarterback Brett Smith has been named to two All-American teams. He has been named the First Team Freshman All-American quarterback by CollegeFootballNews.com. He was named to the second team of Yahoo! Sports' All-American team. He also was named the Mountain West Conference's Freshman of the Year.
Cornerback Blair Burns was selected as Honorable Mention All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com. The native of Plano, Texas also was named a First Team Freshman All-American by CBSSports.com. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Mountain West Conference honors.
Cowboy Hoopsters at Home. . .
Larry Shyatt's high-flying Cowboys host a pair of home games this week in the Double A. Tonight, UC Irvine comes to Laramie for a 7 p.m. tip, and then Friday, it's Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. Friday's game is a Youth Night promotion. All children sixth grade and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Remember, you must take advantage of this deal before 5 p.m. on game day. The Cowboys earned a very big victory last Friday at Boulder, as they came from 10 points behind to upend Colorado. Wyoming is off to a 9-1 start and a very large factor in the CU victory was Cody's Adam Waddell who scored a season-high 17 points, all in the second half. For his efforts he was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week.
Joe Legerski's Cowgirls are on the road this week battling Weber State for a noon game on Thursday at Ogden, and Idaho for a 2 p.m. tip on Sunday at Moscow.

Thursday is the deadline to purchase reduced FanFest pregame tickets for the New Mexico Bowl. Tickets are $25 until Thursday and may be purchase by calling the Wyoming Ticket Office at 800-WYO-FAN1. If you buy FanFest tickets day of the game, they are $35. The Club has sold over 1,500 tickets to the event already. It was a blast two years ago, and a huge success.
W-Club Director Jack Tennant has been very pleased with the response from Cowboy and Cowgirl letter winners to join the Club. A total of 143 new members joined during 2011. Over $20,000 was raised for scholarships and resources. Tennant said updated benefits for 2012 include recognition on the W-Club Board and discounted tickets.
