Congratulations to the Cowboy and Cowgirl swimming programs who opened the 2012 regular season with victories at the Denver University Relays last weekend in Denver. The Cowgirls defeated DU, 201-173 while the Cowboys beat both Denver (172-179) and Air Force (172-94). When Wyoming defeated DU’s men’s program, it marked the first time in the history of the Relays that Denver had lost.

Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova, the Cowgirl’s top-flight doubles team came up just short in their bid for a second straight ITA Mountain Regional Title when they lost 8-5 to a doubles team from the University of Utah.

The Cowgirl golf team finished sixth in its own Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate tournament last Saturday and Sunday at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. Fresno State won the 19-team tournament.
