State senators: Might be dumb [PROOF INSIDE!]

It's amazing how dumb and clueless some politicians are when it comes to athletics, both college and professional. Here in Minnesota, when the Vikings stadium was making its way through legislature, all sorts of idiotic ideas were being proposed.

Hard to succeed when anyone in the state capitol thinks it is within reason to believe Wyoming should be FCS.

it wasn't even about dropping down to FCS, but Division 2. That blows my mind. Obviously he is not in touch with the passion his constituents have for Cowboy athletics.

Really? Wow. That is ridiculous. Wyoming has its issues as an FBS program, but none of it resembles a DII school by any means.

I think in the past you would be spot on - but I am not sure about this session, especially with the support that Mead has thrown UW's direction (both academically and athletically). Hicks may be on an island, with only a select few friends.

Actually, he literally was the only one. Nobody would second it to even be heard. Then, as per a post on the other board there was applause when he had to withdraw it since nobody would second the proposal.

I basically said this in another thread, but we need to make hay budget-wise and facility-wise while Mead is our governor.

Agree. I was unsure about him when he first took office - being from the "Boulder of Wyoming" ... but have been pleased for the most part with his tenure.

It's literally one guy. Nobody, not a single other legislator, would second his motion.

There are a lot of sparsely populated constituencies in Wyoming and it can sometimes result in a couple of odd characters making it into the State legislature. The views of one crazy guy are hardly represent of the legislative body.

UW athletics has a lot of problems, but lack of state support is not really one of them. We always want more, but very few athletic departments in the country enjoy the support from the State Legislature and Governor's office that Wyoming does.

Wow, I'm impressed.

Then maybe it's even more important to make sure his statements have consequences so that future political hopefuls learn from it.
