Positives:

I liked the competitiveness. Intimidation did not seem to be a factor. Interior run defense was much improved from last year. Blair Burns is good. Having Ghalli back on defense is good. Korey Jones is good. Herron is good.

Negatives: Luke Ruff needs to be benched. This guy does not know how to wrap up and finish a tackle, just hitting someone does not work. On 3rd and goal from around the 7 when Ruff hit the guy around the 2 and didn't wrap up and ended up getting run over for a TD; I wanted to puke. WRAP UP AND TACKLE SOMEONE LUKE RUFF!! We desperately needed to force a FG there, and RUFF screwed it up, he needs to understand the game situation. This was just one of many screwups made my Luke Ruff during the game.

Chris McNeil.....WHEN THE BALL IS THROWN TO YOU.... GO GET IT!!!! DO NOT WAIT FOR IT TO LAND IN YOUR HANDS.... TURN AROUND AND COME BACK TO THE BALL AND CATCH IT. This huge mistake allowed Texas to make their first INT.. I blame McNeil for not coming back to the ball.

Kickoff Returns: TAKE THE DAMN BALL AT THE 25, QUIT RETURNING KICKOFFS OUT OF THE ENDZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AM I CLEAR?

Why does this program seem to lose 1 of its top players every year? It would be nice to have Doctson, Gary, Alexander, even ACS on this team.

The 2nd quarter: Geez, we must quit giving the defense short fields!! I believe this team understands the importance of field position though.

STYLE POINTS: I wish the coaches would teach the importance of Style Points. Style Points are a huge part of College Football. K-State won last weekend 51-9. That is quite possibly the most misleading score in history... This was actually a very competitive tight game! OU won 24-7, but was outplayed and run over by UTEP most of the game until their RB got hurt. UTEP missed 3 short FG's while the score was 10-7 forever. Wyo players need to understand that the majority of the nation will only look at the final score of their games. Final Scores are very often misleading. Whether we win or lose we need to understand the importance of the Final Score.

Here's my predictions after 1 week:

toledo----W
cal poly---W
idaho-----W
nevada----W
air force----W
fresno-------W
boise-------L
csu--------W
nm--------W
unlv------W
sdsu------W

We will probably lose 1-2 more vs either nevada, csu, af, sdsu.

I'm thinking 9-3 or 8-4.

Howdy, okcwyocowboy. Welcome to the board. You're third person on here living in OKC. Snowflake is the other person.

Hell no luke ruff doesn't need to be benched are oyu kidding me?!?! The kid is the captain of our D, he calls the plays out, he is the smartest guy out on the entire team, not just defence.

Maybe he doesn't bruise like wendling or chris pro, but this D isn't half as good w/out luke ruff out there.
6th in the MWC in tackles last year, 2nd team MWC safety, our captain, team leader, and you wanna bench him?

Well I believe that DC and Tormey know more about our personel and football than you do, so I am going to say they have a good grasp of what is going on.

Welcome! Say what you want about that play but Brett hung it in the air forever, and it was right on target and would have fallen in McNeil's hands. But because Brett hung it in the air the defender was able to use his "Texas Speed" and get to the ball and make a nice play

Brett's two picks didnt only take the O off the field, they were both inside the 50 and the defense had little to no rest after both of them. They were basically on the field for 3 straight possessions and we only ran 2-3 plays in between

And Ruff had a bad game but the kid will bounce back, I guarantee it

Yes the pass was coming right down in McNeil's hands... But I don't like Receivers to wait for the ball to come down just so they can continue running after the reception. Too many times it gets undercut and intercepted or knocked away. Instead turn around, JUMP for the ball and catch it or keep the defender from it. The only time I like to see a receiver wait for a ball is if they have ran past their defender 1 on 1. Go get the pass even if it means you are going to fall down instead of continue running.

I sure hope Ruff bounces back... That was absolutely brutal.

Yeah, McNeil could definitely have helped out Smith on that interception. He needed to go after the ball instead of waiting for it - it's not like he was standing on the first down line either. There's really no excuse.

As for Luke Ruff - he may be really intelligent, but he had a ruff game to say the least. I'm sure he'll bounce back, though.

This happens with every program.

I just watched the highlights of the game on youtube, longhorn production. Almost all of Texas' big offensive plays had one thing in common. #29. Trying to shoulder tackle, missing tackles etc. Their TD pass was his man and he got destroyed on it. For some reason, he wasn't within 10ft by the time the ball got there. There wasn't even another receiver on the outside, just that guy. I'm sure he made lots of nice tackles and he'll get plenty of tackles throughout the year. He does need to be better. We need perfect play if we are going to ever contend for any conference championships. Everyone needs to elevate their game.

That being said, I hope Luke bounces back. Blair Burns is a surefire stud.
