Start Nick Smith vs SJSU

Could a large part of Chambers' success be that he was new and caught the defensive coaches off guard? But as time goes on, will the coaches in subsequent games be able to devise schemes to try to throttle him down, making him less effective?

Yeah, but there's recent run first QBs that come to mind, Collin Klein at KSU, Jordan Lynch at NIU that everybody knew what they were going to do and still led extremely successful offenses. That's the thing with the zone read type offense, if run well you could tell the defense it's coming and still consistently get yards out of it

Yeah, Smith won't move the ball any better than TVW. Use the redshirt and go for the win(s). IF we lose one of the next couple, then sure, let somebody else play in the last game, but as long as we are winning, keep the good things going.

My thoughts exactly!

You don't sacrifice 12 games for 1. Would be a terrible decision at this point to burn the redshirt.
I don't agree with this. There is no telling what could happen four years from now. Maybe he'll fail out? Maybe he'll have a career-ending injury. Maybe he'll go pro? Maybe he'll transfer. Maybe he'll get beat out... We have a chance to get a bowl game and build real momentum for next year. You've got to take that imo
Couldn’t agree more. As my wife and I say, live life to its fullest, tomorrow may never come. I say we keep going with Chambers. We keep winning, keep going. Why forfeit this season trying to make next year a better year. Next year our D could suck arse for all we know

Losing Wingard, Epps, Hull, Granderson, and Prosser will definitely hurt. At least our LBs should be alright still with Wilson and Hall? Really hope Ghaifan's deal isn't serious enough that he's gone from the team, because we need him on the D-Line.

I'm all for Chambers playing and burning the redshirt but if we are going to save it......I'd try Smith in the same offense. He has shown he can do it. SJSU stuffed our pro style offense last year and TVW is broken. Think about it though.....if Chambers played the rest of the season and we won out and won a bowl game.....it'd be a great story.....he would have played in 6 games and saved our season.....it'd certainly let our senior players go out with a bang......it's possible.....

Did I miss the Nick Smith games where he was as dynamic a runner as Chambers?

I say play him until/if they lose. Then play Nick or TVW and save the redshirt.

I agree with this. It's obvious he absolutely gives us the best chance to win, why mess with it if it works. Now if we lose then yes save his red shirt. Kinda shows us what have for next year watching him play a little too.

:o What? You mean to tell me that Wyoming shouldn't just forfeit the rest of its games and begin making plans for a move to FCS?

LOL!

I've been meaning to ask, should CSU move to FCS? We've beaten them 7 out of 10. What about NM and AF? Those are teams we regularly beat.

I agree but you know what is gonna happen now. We will win all the games until the final game and lose it with Chambers palying so we burn his redshirt and miss a bowl.

If we can't beat UNM with Chambers we deserve to suffer.

Regardless of whether Wyoming wins out or not I'd rather have Chambers leading the offense next season with 5 games (possibly 6) of experience than 3 or 4. He obviously gives Wyoming the best chance to win and should be on the field regardless. He'd have three years of eligibility remaining which should allow the coaching staff plenty of time to recruit and develop a potential replacement. I can't imagine how team, booster, and fan morale would suffer if they benched the kid with 1 or 2 games left on the schedule to preserve his redshirt.

If we build a sizeable lead i feel he should get some playing time for sure in this one

I would love to see Nick Smith get some garbage minutes with us up by at least 4 tds.

In order to be up 4 td's, we have to score td's. And I think that has only happened once this year?

Maybe we get lucky the next 3 games though.

Not saying I think it will happen, just saying it would be awesome.
