By not attaching a name to the piece -- it's a cowardly way to approach the UW football situation and the Dave Christensen angle in my opinion.
This. Not putting your name on a critical piece is a cop out. If you're going to write about the team, positively or negatively, own up to your work.

I agree on the cop out. However, DC completely shuts off access to anyone that publishes a negative opinion of him.

On the other hand, if it is true that Dave Christensen 'shuts out' anyone who says or writes anything that is perceived as negative about him, the games, his players, or the program itself...this is a HUGE problem that makes him and any coach who employs such bully like tactics look small and petty.

This perception of DC bothers me more than anything that takes place on the field -- Wyoming football is not beyond reproach on any level, and if all DC or the Wyoming administration expect is flowery reporting and don't have any respect for critical thinking then I have a very hard time respecting such a mindset.

In addition, shame on any reporter who would adhere to this kind of ridiculous one way and or dictatorial kind of a relationship.

Christensen doesn't own and operate the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle nor does he exert any editorial control over the Casper Star-Tribune...or any other media outlet that I am aware of.

If this is true about Christensen, then perhaps the two most prominent print publications in the state should focus their time and editorials on shining the light on the browbeating meanderings of a football staff who apparently looks to eliminate anyone who dares to deviate from the outlined script as handed down from on high.

I love the University, the football program, the administration, and I support the head coach...I really hope what has been alluded to a few times on this board about this subject is erroneous and not legit.

We don't typically agree, but well put! Media plays a vital role in a free and open society.

With a chicken shit move like this he may shut the whole paper out, not just one writer.

Right! And they wonder why he isn't friendly to media.

Doc, well said sir!!!

The media being 'friendly' with a head coach, or a head coach being 'friendly' with the media is an element that should never-ever factor into the equation.

What is paramount, is that the public official in this case, Dave Christensen, and those covering his program, various media outlets, have a healthy respect for each others roles and understand that in some cases there may be two (or more) competing viewpoints.

So the CST printed an editorial that was less than flattering about Coach C and the AD...I thought the piece was wrong - but so what?

This is now a reason to have DC treat the CST in a less professional way than perhaps he did before the piece was published?

Ridiculous.

As well as way oversensitive - and paranoid-like - and a host of other words I'll stop short of stating.

The CST is NOT in business to make The University Of Wyoming look good - this is not their responsibility or their concern...there job is to put out a newspaper each day reporting the news and commenting on issues with those they pay money to comment.

If the CST or any other paper wished to do everything they could do in order to make Wyoming and the football program seem as cheeky as possible, then they'd tell their writers to stay home, hand the pen and pad over to UW officials, and have them write whatever they wanted to for publication.

Lets understand the role of the media as it relates to the subjects it covers...please.

Well put again!

I don't think it was a well written tribue article either, but thats not the point. Dino addresses the point well.

I hope he does. I don't waste my time with the CST.

Christensen is a piece of shit. He and Burman ought to be gone. An embarassment for the entire state!

From everything you write, you're not much better. Besides, I don't want to hear anything negative about Wyo from some "so called" fan who has NDSU in their name or under everything they write.

all 80 of his posts are negative ones that bash either the coach or basically say how bad we suck.

My kids go (went) to WYO, I have lived here a long, long time......so I have more of a vested interest in UW. I am a NDSU fan, but follow the Pokes too. I can tell you, with Burman as AD and DC as coach, the Bison are one hell of a lot more fun to watch than this sorry excuse of a program. The Casper paper was dead on and I hope heads roll.

+1

BTW, I'm from Casper and will always root for Wyoming eventhough I'm in hell.......Oklahoma. I'm too embarrassed to even tell my friends here about CDC's outburst.

Landthieves is having a good time watching the video.

and you're embarassed? I'm fucking proud! And reigning MW COY do not get fired the next year for a little profanity at the end of a game. Hell, my high school baseball coach spoke worse to us.
