DC was ABSOLUTELY hands off.
Ask some of the players.
Go watch a practice.
DC would even stand in the fucking stands while the assistants ran everything.
And if he wasn't in the stands he would stand on the field WAY back from everyone.
He NEVER got hands on with a player and told them how to fix something. He was always hands off.
Whoever told you that he was a hands on coach is bullshitting you and you are believing it.

Btw, there is a difference between micro-managing and being hands on.
Micro-managing is telling your assistant coaches what to do with everything, being a hands on coach is actually COACHING! Telling an O-Lineman he needs to be quicker getting out of his stance, showing a RB better foot-work, showing the QB how to throw the ball better.
Being hands on is NOT sitting in the stands watching over everything and not being involved.

I agree with you but the NDSU fan said "if you knew anything about him you would know he isn't hands on".
Which, I don't agree with.
I'm with you. I think Bohl COACHES. I think he also lets his assistants coach.
DC pretty much didn't allow that shit.

I read it on twitter, but after reading his bio, he may have a better oline mindset. After his first stint right after college at Western Washington, he has been an offensive guy.

Per his bio:
After graduating from Washington in 1994, Kaligis was an assistant football coach at Western Washington University in his hometown of Bellingham, Wash. He was the assistant tight end and strength coach there from 1994-95, and was the assistant defensive line and strength coach at WWU from 1996-97. During his tenure at WWU, he coached two All-America defensive ends, and his team advanced to the NAIA Division II title game in 1996.

DC should NEVER have been calling the plays. He should not have micro-managed his coaches. As a head coach you are supposed to be the figure head, who is in charge of the big strategic picture. Generals give their leaders beneath them a strategic plan and resources to do their jobs, they do not command the individual air/ground strikes. When you get your head guy down in the weeds like DC was is when you know that there is no trust in the subordinates and shit is about to hit the fans.

Vision, mission, motivation, direction, accountability. Rinse and repeat...

bohl sounded upbeat in his presser yesterday, i did talk to a couple of the coaches on the field after ndsu win and congratulated them on going to wyoming. The 6 of them are pretty closeknit crew and to a man they are ready for the challenge. Stanard will be a good DC he and bohl work very well together on scheming.
