Stanard new Wyoming DC

This is what I was just told, I'm trying to confirm...maybe you guys can start asking.

Klieman stayed at NDSU
Hazelton stayed at Nevada.

Knowing Craig, he'd rather stick with someone he trusts then run out on a search.

Ps. With stanard, it means bohl will have more say on defense strategy as well. He was D coord at Colo st New Mex St and Tulane

Honestly it is not a bad move at all. Stanard has a lot of experience and knows the defense. 18 years of DC experience under his built and even at Colorado State. He understands the Border War.

I figured it was always going to be either Stanard or Hazelton once Klieman stayed.

Here is a Stanard vid coaching LB's... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vBaiOBKw3A" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can't think of anyone else on Bohl's staff that would have more desire to beat CSU than Stanard.

I"m not jumping up for joy, but on the other hand he's been with Bohl and understands his system. He wasn't the worst DC that the Rams have ever had, but not the best either.

Kind of, "meh...", but with Bohl coming on board...what the heck. Plus, like posted before, he'll have something to prove to the MWC and specifically CSU.

A peanut and corn-filled turd is better than what we have had. I see no problem with giving Stanard a whirl.

This is a boner killer.

If our goal is to beat CSewe every year, like it was with DC, and piss down our legs against everyone else, then we have picked another winner.

So who exactly were you expecting to be DC then? Some big name???

The pool is deep right now. I would have been ok with Klieman though, honestly. Stanard is like Tormey, English, et al.

I get that you're a little upset about the pick for the D-Coordinator, but in reality, don't you think that Bohl will be VERY hands on for the defense?
He is a defensive guy, and knows with a half respectable defense, the offense will win many games. He knows that he needs to fix it. To me, I see this as, Bohl is the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.

I do think that (Bohl will be playing a bigger role on the D side of things). But it brings back nightmare's of when DC stood on a podium somewhere, blinked a bunch, and announced his new title as OC.

I feel ya, but realistically, DC should have been calling plays from day 1 in Laramie.
He knew our offense was garbage coming into Laramie, so why didn't he take control of the offense from day 1?

Bohl knows our D sucks, and will probably do what DC didn't...take control of the problem area, his expertise area, from the start.

DC should NEVER have been calling the plays. He should not have micro-managed his coaches. As a head coach you are supposed to be the figure head, who is in charge of the big strategic picture. Generals give their leaders beneath them a strategic plan and resources to do their jobs, they do not command the individual air/ground strikes. When you get your head guy down in the weeds like DC was is when you know that there is no trust in the subordinates and shit is about to hit the fans.

To answer your question, no.

If you knew absolutely anything about Bohl, you would know that he is a hands off coach. Let's his coordinators call the shots on both sides of the ball.

So we did just hire the defensive version of Christensen...GREAT!

Yes, but there is a HUGE BUT that you are not mentioning here....as long as the coaches call it in a way that is acceptable to Bohl....you make it sound like he so hands off the authority that he doesn't have a clue what they are doing and that they are totally on their own. That is a total load of cow droppings, and right before Christmas, you know better than that!

Do you mean the exact opposite of Christensen? He was the OC. Wasn't hands off at all. Some even said he micro managed the D too but I don't know about that. Sounds more like Joe Glenn.

He micro-managed everything. He was a nightmare to his staff, a control freak, and stubborn as a mule. You know how you can tell if you have a good "GM"? Have him / her walk away for a few weeks and see if the place runs the same (or better). Dave was a LOUSY head coach (GM).
