Stanard and CSU

CSU's fans have historically not thought much of Stanard, going so far as to call him the "Sonny killer." Does anyone know why?

I can't get a good read on Stanard. He has plenty of DC experience with some lower level (Nebraska Wesylan & South Dakota) and at the D-1 level (New Mexico State, Colorado State and Tulane). So being our DC would not be his first rodeo. He knows Coach Bohl's Tampa 2 defense.

He seems to recruit Nebraska and Colorado the most, which is going to be big for us.

I still think we make a run at Scottie Hazelton first.

Nevada had a very difficult schedule this year...but should I be concerned about the numbers Hazelton's defense gave up this past year, Kansas? I didn't watch them to know any better...

Well there is concerns with both but it is more important IMO to get someone that Coach Bohl trusts and that he knows can run his Tampa 2. Anyone tied to Monte Kiffen, Pete Carroll or Gus Bradley that we can afford would be a possibility also due to scheme familiarity.

The same "Tampa 2" that offenses have figured out? *Cowboys game last night, etc?

Kind of my feelings. Though when watching NDSU play, it was more man to man than zone, but they did blitz a couple times.

Every defense has its weakness, just the Tampa 2's weaknesses are little more documented. Here is a good link explaining the most glaring weakness of Tampa 2, "Deep Middle".
