Unfortunately, I think it's going to happen in the next few years. Eyeballs and TV sets which generate big bucks, that's what it's all about. I think the BCS is going to break with the NCAA and run college football any damn way they want. Also unfortunately, Wyoming isn't going to be one of the schools they take along.

Nor the Mountain West in general.

We're screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tickedoff:

This whole thing would have Anti-Trust written all over it. No way can the big schools dictate who is allowed in one league and who isn't. Especially considering some of the dead weights that would get a free pass.

Not going to happen.....but good offseason fodder.

You bring up the most valid point. I wish everyone would clue in.

I think we may see 8 - 16 team "conferences" in the future, with the top 2 finishers in each competing in a playoff of sorts, to determine a national champion. Some FCS teams would have to move up to FBS to make this happen, but at least nobody in FBS would get thier dick cut off.

Everyone is learning and watching from MLB mistakes (spending and salary caps), that without parity, the league has lost the bulk of its competitive luster. It is time to level the financial field as much as possible in athletics...and for those that "have" more every year (Texas, Florida, Etc.) let them spend their money elsewhere (like academics / research for instance). It doesn't take a brain surgeon or rocket scientist to figure this shit out...if things continue thier course, it will be bad for everyone.

Oh, and FUCK bWHYu.

Agreed, this IS the biggest problem with the BCS. I really don't think anyone has a problem with the teams that win on the field making the most $, it is the losers that are riding others coattails that get the rest of us pissed.

Take AFA for instance. The past several years AFA could beat the bottom 1/2 of every single BCS conference team, and give the top half a hell of a tough game if not beat them. No cares that Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Texas take a ton of $,....it is the likes of Duke, Vanderbilt, Iowa State (and on and on) getting big $ when they would finish just as low in the MWC. What did those teams do to deserve it over AFA? THAT is what makes it unfair.

Then to make it worse, fans AND "reporters" of those leagues are still ignorant enough to say we don't play anybody while most of them are too chicken to travel to a MWC team to play.

If the BCS schools break away from the NCAA, they can easily avoid anti-trust implications by setting the requirements and inviting anyone who is willing to meet the requirements to join. So, they can say, for example, that every member must give 100 scholarships and pay each player a stipend of $2,000 per year. Of course, under Title IX, these requirments would have to be extended to the women's sports to keep the balance. If your program is big enough to afford such requirements, then you're in, if not, too bad. This means that some present BCS schools would opt out and some non BCS schools would opt in. So, in theory, if Wyoming has the money to meet the requirements they could be in. Anti-trust would be avoided because they weren't excluding anyone specifically. It would be like being a country club. You don't deny anyone entrance as long as they can pay the fee. Problem solved.
