Speaking of Shaun Wick...

If it was for a 6th year I would say no way. But since the guy never redshirted the NCAA seems to give a little more wiggle room. I looked up a couple of similar instances and that was a major factor. Guys who play in 4 games were given that 5th year. It's really weird and this topic interests me because of its abuse by SEC teams using this rule to get players six years by false injuries. Alabama and Saban mostly.

Googled this off Bleacher report regarding medical exemptions for 2015. Looks promising since he didn't compete in more than 4 games.
 
North dakota 6 carries 15 yards , eastern Michigan 20 carries 76 yards , wash st 12 carries 8 yards , new mexico 5 carries -2 yards , that's off the ncaa stats.

Right, he played in four games. You cannot play more than four games during the first half of the season , which he did not do. More than four would obviously be five. He has no record of participation after game four. Now I'm not sure when Knestis got hurt. But I think he's under the amount also.
 
Correct or 30 percent of games of 12 games played and scheduled he played 33%. Whichever is greater .....soo that would mean 33 percent is greater which is what the ncaa would use . So no medical redshirt . Unless someone said that ghost 13th game was on schedule in that case then he would be considered, but that will look at the extent of injury and in this case to miss the last 8 games with a concussion and brain injury I would believe that they wouldn't want to risk more injury of that nature to the athlete.

It says 30% of games or 4 games, whichever is greater. 12 x 30% = 3.6. 4 games > 3.6 games. He's eligible.

Ya I see they round the 3.6 to 4 ...that makes them eligible to apply for it and see if the ncaa accepts it or not .
 
If he gets it, he gets 1 more shot at cracking 1000 yards (remember how close he was DC's last year? and he was well on his way last year before he broke his wrist) and we get to see him push the pile back in a brutal 1-2 tandem with Hill.

If not, he played his heart out here and showed what Cowboy Tough really is, and wish him luck for his future, whatever and wherever it may be.
 
My question is why waste time on Wick next season? There is no way he starts over Hill anyways. With that being said, if I were Bohl, I'd go find another good running back to get into the system because if Hill has another season like he did this year, he will leave after next season and you would lose Hill and Wick at the same time.

I admit, I have never been a fan of Wick, especially after he cried about none of the California schools offering him a scholarship. In the past 4 years, all 3 of those teams had running backs that probably would have started over him anyways. SJSU had 2 1000 yard rushers, SDSU had Muema who left early for the draft then was followed by Pumphrey and Fresno has had a couple good ones too.

1. Experience
2. Leadership
3. Good in Between the Tackles - I think he could be a short yard specialist
4. Can spell Hill for 5-7 carries a game (which would be HUGE)
