Sounds like Haldorson's leaving

From the sportszone outta Cheyenne, talking about that on the radio and Sellers is graduating, so things are truly changing at UW, i think for the best!!!

The only thnig that Gags or Vorel said was that 2 scholarships are opening up due to Haldorson transferring and Hankerson essentially becoming a walk-on. They did not say anythnig regarding Sellers graduating and potentially moving on. If Sellers is leaving that would open up 3 scholarships.

This appears to be a chance to solve the depth problem................... only if they do a better job with the next round of recruits.

Mr Sellers: You are graduating! Congratulations. You are free! Why would you want to stick around in cold, lonely Laramie? You show 'em, buddy. You move on to be a starter down south somewhere. Go get 'em. Please.

My math maybe skewed but hankerson paying his own way, Vernon and Haroldson transferring, would leave 3 scholarships. If Sellars graduates and leaves then we have 4. Definitely need to go the JC route and find some talent

It was mentioned a while ago that Sellers would be graduating, and it was also mentioned a while ago that he most likely wouldn't be returning after graduating. In the early signing period Shyatt recruited over someone on the team when he signed three. I would bet you anything that it was Sellers that he recruited over as there was no way at that time he knew that Vernon and Haldorson would be transferring but he would have known that Sellers would be graduating at the end of the year. They just might be waiting to announce Sellers graduating later on. I am thinking that the Cowboys will have 3 scholarships available in the spring. I just hope that we are able to add these scholarships along with the three scholarships from the earlier signing period into a truly great foundation for future championships.

If Sellers leaves it will mean that only 3 scholarships are open.

Josh Adams
Derek Cooke, Jr.
Riley Grabau
Alan Herndon
Jason McManaman
Larry Nance, Jr.
Trey Washington, III

plus the 3 early signees:

Diontae Jones
Jeremey Lieberman
Jonathan Barnes

this equals ten scholarships, and then Charles Hankerson, Jr. will be paying his own way, but it still only means that three scholarships are available in the spring signing period. I do have to say that what Hankerson is doing is something that is difficult for him but shows a lot of maturity on his part and I greatly respect him for doing it.

Someone said Sellers didn't want to play anymore because he isn't all that into it.

Coach Shyatt mentioned earlier that he would be going after a forward and/or wing depending upon the decisions being made about who was staying or leaving. Now that Wyoming most likely has three scholarships available for the spring signing period I would imagine that they would go after a JC forward and a high school wing and I am not sure about the last scholarship, probably the "best player available".

It's official.

We have two scholarships for the spring.

We have AT LEAST two scholarships available in the spring. Do you really think that all of the movements are done? Do you think that Sellers will be on the team next year?

We have two right now. If Sellers left we would have three. I think Sellers stays. If he was planning on leaving his name would be in that article.

I thought at this point it was believed that Sellers is leaving.
I don't know why he would.
Even if I wasn't that good and had limited playing time, I would try my hardest for my final season.

Why would they have to announce him now? There is no pressure to announce his leaving now, they can wait until he actually graduates later in the year. There are many things that happen within teams that are announced much later to the public than when they are known to the coach. If you think that Sellers isn't leaving, then who did Shyatt recruit over in the early signing period? In the early signing period Coach Shyatt gave out 3 scholarships when he had only 2 seniors, so he obviously was recruiting over someone that he was knowing that they were going to lose. Basketball coaches do not give out scholarships if they don't know that they are going to be available especially when they only have a total of 13 scholarships to work with.

He might have recruited an extra guy on condition that if Wyoming didn't lose anybody Mcmanamen would take the Hathaway. Or he could have just recruited an extra knowing that he would probably lose someone due to attrition.

Who knows? Sellers might leave. If he does we'll have three scholarships.

I'm curious as to why Hankerson got his scholarship yanked. This leads me to believe that Shyatt already has a couple of recruits in the bag. If he didn't, why wouldn't they just let Hank keep his scholarship for one more season?

I'm guessing either Shyatt or Burman didn't want Hankerson back and they compromised. Hankerson got himself in a very bad situation because as a senior he couldn't transfer, so he didn't have much of a choice.

Could violating team rules and his legal issues have played a role?
