Sorry about this post - but where is our GD will to compete?

This "Lets blame DC for how bad we are shit" is starting to sound like Obama supporters! You aren't an Obama Supporter are you?????????? Ha HA HA Remember everything is Bush's fault!

These are hard and valid questions...difficult to answer because I think you're all right in some form or another.

I think Bohl needs time. He really does, but man...it's hard to watch teams like UNLV (man was I wrong) INSTANTLY look improved across the board with a new staff. Same talent as last year, but the product and progress is immediately apparent. I believe in the process, but the faith in that process is shaken a little when you see a shit program like UNLV immediately look vastly improved...you begin to wonder why we can't do that.

Can we agree DC had horrid D from year two on? Or did we forget this.
Year one was Glenn's guys- Fletcher, Unrein, etc.
after that it was only down hill.
Year four 4-8 shootout with Idaho???
Year five 5-7 shootouts with Nebraska, UNM, SJSU, Hawaii. And a blowout to CSU. Just these games alone we were giving up 40 ppg.
Yup, that is the senior heavy D that Bohl inherited last year...
This year only a few linemen remain and they are doing pretty piss poor, exception Yarbrough, what else is left? Wacha? Good kid! Good drive! And only a 200lb LB!!! The rest Are Bohls recruits. All young and undersized.
When the shoe fits...

Wake up people...he has taken us to the lowest spot possible in FBS and he is still the savior? This man might be the second coming.....

I am wide awake Slow and I am thinking we are a shitty bunch of fans who are so damn impatient that we don't want to give a proven coach the time to prove his worth.

Two recruiting classes while cleaning up after DC is not enough time. We are the youngest team in the nation and that isn't Bohl's fault. Why not give him the opportunity to build something? Some fans take things for face value and flip the fuck out when we lose. People need to understand this is a rebuilding project.

Honestly, some of you should give the negativity a rest. It isn't going to change anything this year. But, could make a potential recruit think twice about playing for a bunch of angry fans.

Jimmy, did you think the same, when UW didn't give time (and patience) to Vic, Joe, and Dave?

Cleaning up after DC? DC left Bohl with 20+ seniors, 9 starters on defense. Bohl knew what was going to happen in year 2, way before taking the job. Again, it isn't (for me) just about the losing...it is the fact that we are light-years from being competitive, with what are 2 of the shittiest programs ever to trot into Laramie.

Negativity - agree, is a bad thing, but damn, the dog can only be kicked so many times. Most of us need a place to vent and share our thoughts. WyoNation is our therapy - it is our outlet - it is the place to come to vent. Agree as well, it isn't going to change anything to bitch and moan, but again - my dog sure appreciates it.

Because we didn't look horrid to begin with. We weren't sporting multiple 2 win seasons.

Totally agreed, here. The most concerning aspect of Wyoming football since Glenn's departure is just how rapid the exponential decline in the talent/general aptitude of defensive personnel has been. Someone tried to plug in Shamiel Gary, Ghaali Muhammad, etc. as guys who were big contributors on DC's 2009 team...but realistically, that entire defensive core was Glenn's. We haven't seen capable players on D since.

I've got no question in my mind that Glenn would have been bowling in 2009 if he had been retained. Christensen made very little difference there.

Slow Hand, if memory serves right, had a hard on for DC even long after he was fired. And still does apparently.

I thought the guy (DC) was a horrible hire. He had some personality traits that should have sent red flags up...right from the get-go. At least his teams competed though - for the most part. I have yet to see that from the 2015 Bohl's Cowboys.

By the way, how many strikes does an AD get with football (primary revenue) hires? Acquire Glenn, Fire Glenn, Hire Dickface, Extend Dickface, Fire Dickface. I don't know about many of you, but in my line of work, if I hire - acquire a GM (coach) and he/she fails, I may get one more shot to get it right, or I am baked.

This should be it for him.....if Bohl doesn't succeed (but needs to be given at least 4 years to prove his worth), then Burman should be gone regardless of Shyatt and the up and coming programs like wrestling, swimming, volleyball, soccer, tennis, etc.

Football pays the bills.

Ha Ha, I am a fan of the Spread Offense yes. Not so much a DC fan but a system fan. I made many statements when we found out that Bohl was coming to town. Mainly of the nature that I didn't like his offensive system and I didn't think it would work well in Wyoming. I think I even made the statement that the pro system will not work in Wyoming because we can't recruit the type of player necessary to compete in that system. My premise was that the Spread makes it so that we can compete to a certain degree with better programs. Now that I look back on it I was a smart SOB!

You guys are wasting your time. There are certain people on this board who will never demand excellence and wins, and should find jobs as excuse makers. This team could be terrible for 50 years and they will still hand out the same excuses like candy. For them, it's not about winning. It's about....hell I don't even know what it's about. To try to defend this year's team, which is going to go 0-12 and get spanked by two of the worse teams to ever come to Laramie, is just beyond me. I don't know how you can do it with a straight face. Hell, last year's NC team could beat Eastern Michigan.

That is the most concerning thing for me. On paper, he looked like an excellent hire. I didn't participate in the interviews though. That was AD's job. An interview or two should have brought those traits to light pretty quickly. Maybe it is ok for head coaches to carry those traits (I highly doubt it), but in most places, thats a non-starter.

Did he really think he had that big of a slam dunk hire that he could just overlook it? It blew up quite a few times - with the mushroom cloud fallout after AFA in 2012.

For the same reasons of ability to minimize the athletic talent disadvantage, I was the lone member on the hire Bob Stitt bandwagon 2 years ago.

...but I actually don't believe it is Bohl's offensive system that may be his downfall. This offense has shown the ability to and will likely continue to move the ball when the line develops more depth and size. To me, it is almost insane to run the Tampa 2 defense at the D1 college level. The spread can and will pick apart the Tampa 2 unless you have some incredible athletes (not to mention the Tampa 2 is not that great against the option typically either). The only defense that makes sense to me at Wyoming is the 3-4 because we will never recruit enough size and speed on the DL to successfully run a 4-3.

Exactly what I was thinking. The guy who wants to lower the bar by dropping to FCS (a cowardly move no FBS team has done) is chiding us for not wanting excellence?

We are struggling, but Beau brings in a new energy. I would like to tell him you said hey but I have no idea who you are! Maybe shoot me a message and let me know your name and I will tell him hey for you. He is a great guy!

The 3-4 defense actually requires MORE size on the line and at linebacker. For guys that we have now?
Uso Olive-6'Ft 305lbs
Sidney Mulauulu (just butchered the poor kid's name)- 6'3 300lbs
Du'Ryan Ebbesen- 6'2 305lbs
Jacob English- 6'5 291lbs
Dalton Fields- 6'3 274lbs (a little light, but easily fixed)

5 guys, only 1 is an upperclassmen and all interior d-linemen about the size you want in an interior d-linemen.

For the 3-4 defense to be effective, you need a huge NT at about 6'4 320lbs (ideally) and 2 DEs that are basically 4-3 DTs. And outside linebackers the size of DEs.

For those of you watching the D-line more closely.. does Fields ever get in there, and how does he do? How did Sidney play Saturday?
