Somebody Better Apologize To Sellers!

LOL - a buddy of mine said Sellers & his wife went off on a few posters from the old fart board that were bashing his decision to leave the team (inappropriately). I don't / didn't read it, so take it for what it is worth.

Either way, you never know how the shoes fit, unless you wear them.

Let's see...

Sellers' profile pic is of a lion eating raw meat.

His background pic is a big, blown up quote of some scary words Genghi Khan said once.

He set his profile as "Matt is bad for you."

This kid is trying really hard to make himself look like a badass tough guy. A more effective way of building that brand may have been to not quit the basketball team and use the five fouls that God gave him every chance he got.

But what do I know. I'm just some guy on a forum...

There's more to life than basketball, even if you are a D1 player on scholarship. I don't know why Sellers left the team, but I'm sure it wasn't to spite the coaches and his teammates. I would guess that he's more concerned about getting his degree than he is about finishing out the season. I applaud his ability to recognize what his priorities are and to act on them. It hurts us fans that he's not on the team now, but kudos to Sellers for doing what he thinks was best.

This....it's just not for us to understand

That is complete bull. He was getting his education paid for by the University in exchange to being part of a basketball team. He quit on them, he deserves the criticism he is receiving.

sad part is, he's now creating more awareness after he's irrelevant. here's some fresh press Matt, 'your a quitter' - get over it. the rest of you who applaud that effort are just as irrelevant.

The reality is there is way more to life than basketball and Matt Sellers can do whatever he wants and no one else knows why he made the choice he made but that is his right and no one else on this board or the other one has any right to say jack shit about it.

I would like to see some of your lives and some of the decisions you have made in life "all of you holier than thou " people .
After all it is just a game honestly, it isn't anything of great value in the overall scheme of things so some of you might want to get your priorities straight.

I'm not criticizing, but maybe if Sellers would just be honest and more open about his reasons for leaving the team everyone would understand. Unless he doesn't have a good reason and just quit, then I would shut my mouth like he is doing.

give the $$ from that scholly to Hankerson for the rest of the year, afterall he's worked his tail off this year on his own dime, especially when you are on the team 3.5 years and then just up and decide I've had enough, with only 11 games left, come on man

This post makes me  . Why?
1. Wrong "your". It's "you're".
2. Your (correct usage for your benefit) basic "Fuck you! Basketball means more than your familial/personal reasons for leaving the team!" is actually a good reason for him to not be happy about comments criticizing him.
3. And then your (did it again just for you) comment on the rest of us who "applaud his efforts are just as irrelevent" only paints you in that much more of a negative light to the rest of us. Why? It makes you look stupid.
4. Sellers left for personal reasons. Who are you to ctiticize him for those when you don't even know his situations?

True, there is more to life than basketball. There is also something about honoring commitments, etc. Seller's quit on his team even though he accepted a scholarship to play basketball. That is free schooling just to help the Cowboys win games. He quit and the Pokes could really use him now.

The timing of Sellers' departure was pretty convenient. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it somewhere around the first day of the 2nd semester? I'm talking out my ass a little bit here, but it seems logical that starting the 2nd semester under scholarship ensures that scholarship for the rest of the semester. The tuition has been paid.

If he's quitting the team to focus on school for his last semester, I don't really buy it. In fact, I think that's a bullshit excuse. He got a "free" education in exchange for accepting the responsibility of contributing to the basketball program while keeping up with his studies. I won't argue his in-game contributions, but I'll give the kid the benefit of the doubt about being a helpful scout team player, which in turn made our guys better prepared for the competition.

I was disappointed when it happened because it looked way too much like he was simply using the university. There have been many rumors that he quit because his lack of playing time wasn't worth the hard work anymore. Unfortunately, we've lost 2 more guys at the same position since he quit, and we need his depth. Sellers did not own up to his responsibility. He did not own up to his commitment. He let his teammates down, he let his coaches down, and he let the fans down. The fact that this kid is getting a free education over Charles Hankerson is really disappointing.

Did Larry Shyatt give up on Sellers? Did Shyatt pull his scholarship to find another recruit for 2014-15? Nope. Shyatt honored his commitment to the kid even though many of us wanted to let him walk last year. This is the gratitude that Shyatt received, a quitter with 11 games left in his career.

maybe he truly had the monster Mono bug and passed it along to the others and didn't want his name to slung around the mud...lol

Shyatt should have jerked his scholarship when he showed up to his 2nd year in the program completely overweight. From the stories that have been written about him, Sellers didn't choose to make a real effort to become a contributor to the program until last summer. He's lucky that he got to keep his spot on the roster. Makes me even more upset about him quitting the team.

Honestly, none of it is our business, but the only situation that would change my mind about Sellers is some story about how it's drastically necessary for him to make money right now so that he can pay for treatments for a sick family member or something. He got a job at Albertson's. I hope it's for more than just spending money, since his room and board is still covered under his athletic scholarship.

Doesn't matter it isn't going to effect your life or mine in anyway so people need to quit speculating as it is none of their business. Only people that need to know anything is his teammates and coaches. End of story.
