Why not...there's rumor that he may be going back to Youngstown State to coach again...

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we could offer more than YSU....

If we, or any other NCAA school, hires Tressel, they will be sanctioned until December 2016, plus Tressel would have to sit out the first 5 games and any postseason game in the 1st year.

We stand against the wall, with our cheeks spread and the NCAA fisting us.

Basically. There might be scholarship restrictions and we would be under a BIG microscope. Any violations would be treated as repeat violations and would result in severe penalties without warning or leniency.

So, what you are saying is that Tressel wouldn't have learned from what transpired at tOSU...and that if offered a job at tUW, he would pull the same shenanigans knowing that he is being watched by the NCAA?

I am saying a variety of things. They can all be summed up by:

"Jim Tressel is in no way, shape, or form a viable candidate for any NCAA football coaching vacancy."

For further explanation:

"While the show-cause doesn't specifically prevent a team from hiring a coach, it does effectively serve as a ban in practice. Any school that employs Tressel must go before the NCAA infractions committee as to why it should be allowed to do so, and it could face its own sanctions as a result. The school also would have to issue a report to the committee every two months during the show-cause period detailing how it is monitoring the coach. Any additional violations committed by the coach during that time could really bring the NCAA hammer down on that school. And suffice it to say that most athletic programs don't want to spend any more time than absolutely necessary talking to the infractions people.

"No Division I team has ever hired a coach saddled with an ongoing show-cause penalty. Some coaches whose college careers were essentially ended by the show-cause include former Ohio State basketball coach Jim O'Brien, ex-Indiana basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and former Kentucky recruiting coordinator Claude Bassett."

There's a reason Chip Kelly left for the NFL (besides the $$$).. he also has a show cause penalty which means he is NCAA coaching cancer right now. It's not a matter of Tressel learning it's a matter of if he returns to coaching the school he goes to will inherit his penalties.

If a guy applied for a job at FAU we should snatch him. we can and will pay more! I want Ed O

I don't get the love for Orgeron. He couldn't win at Ole Miss where you can't walk down the block without running into an NFL caliber football player.

Agreed he took over a team that went to two bowl games the years before he got there and two after he left. He is not a great coach. Yes he let USC to a good season this year but they didn't even consider him. The only good win he had this year was against Stanford only one of the other teams he beat did finished over .500.

I think USC had a lot of injuries early; kind of like Florida. USC also has scholly limits so I don't think their depth is what it used to be. Part of their late season surge, I think, is due to people getting healthy and/or experience as much as it was Orgeron.
