So steelbed58, what's the word with CJ

Me and my buddies had the sign "we want C.J. , Oliver, Kurt, and Evan " signs at the bball game. we also had the signs that said "sign wyo, and become a cowboy. C.J. looked like he wanted to sign the second he loooked at us. I think he becomes a cowboy.

Thought he would committ. Talked to his dad during the weekend and he said CJ was having a great time. Did not hear from him again until Wednesday and i asked what went wrong. Apparently the player chaperones were the ones who told CJ not to go there because they hated it. Dad said a call into the caoch and an e-mail was not returned. His dad wanted him to go there. Gentleman CJ's dad is a coach down here who is well respected and has placed plenty of kids at schools around the country, he would not lie over something like this. The dad's only concern was with CJ being a system kid, how long will you have your head coach for. It's only a short time away when a big 12/sec/bcs school starts to call for your coach. I have enjoyed my time on your boards and will cruise it every now and then. Good luck to you guys, you have a good program now you can be proud of.

Wait, what? Chaperones as in the people UW provided?

You're saying that a WYO player told CJ not to go to UW because he hated it? Ok, dude... hope we get the QB from Texas anyway...

I am going to have to call BS on a currnt player who was hosting CJ telling him not to come. I hope CJ has a great time playing in I-AA........

I call bullshit also! No way in hell is the staff going to let disgruntled players chaperon an incoming recruit. You don't think this would get back to the staff? Not buying it.

The dad was concerned about us losing our coach? DC still has a ways to go before he starts getting big-time offers. MWC coaches, (AFA, Utah, TCU) have all been offered very big jobs in the past few years, and they have all turned them down. This league is stepping it up and if DC was to have that kind of success, I'm sure UW would at least make a very good bid to keep him and he certainly might stay.

The grass is not always greener.

Yeah. I think it would have more credibility if it wasn't for the fact that the other visitors that came during the same weekend both committed.

While it's doubtful it happened anyway, the fact that the other visitors committed, really makes it difficult to believe.

If the dad is high school coach that has plenty of experience with D-1 FBS recruiting, then he certainly can see through standard negative recruiting such as this, no?

Coaching tenures in FBS are indeed short for a variety of reasons, but they can be short anywhere. Coaches can move on from even the highest level jobs (USC, Tennessee, LSU, etc.) or be fired from pretty much anywhere (South Florida, even though Leavitt built that entire program from scratch). Nature of the beast.

If DC moves on to a higher paying job, then that will mean that he was successful at UW. While I would hate to lose him, I would love for him to have the level of success that it would take to attract higher level suitors.

Excellent point!

Oh....and USF, Valdosta State, and the Southern School of the Egotistical and Hieght Challenged Big Mouth are models of coaching stability.

It's too bad he isn't four inches taller, he needs the extra size to hold up his head....

Next.

I am trying to figure out why we (WyoNation, UW Fans, Etc.) really give a shit about this kid. Let's face it, there is no guarantee that anyone is going to be a superstar in college, regardless of his HS stats, pedigree, Stars, Bells, Whistles, Hearts, Moons, etc.

Who cares and thank God he isn't coming to Laramie. He is small and slow with not a lot of interest from other programs. Don't believe the hype.

I smell a skunk - and it isn't from here in Wyoming. I'm not convinced this is how it went down. We'll be fine here at UW.

Same here. 2 and 2 doesn't make 4 here.
