If Delaney and the B1G want to pay players - have at it. If they want to turn their schools into high-priced whore houses for ESPN and bowl execs to plunder - let them at it. Just turn in your tax exempt status and eligibility (for all University operations) on your way out and call a spaid a spaid.
I am so disgusted by all of this - I hope the 64 actually break off so the rest of us can get back to intercollegiate athletics played on an even field by student athletes. No more cartels and blackballing. No more slaps on the wrist for out of control boosters and lying millionaire coaches. No more destroying long-standing rivalries and tradition for a couple bucks. Let's face it, we have no more in common with Alabama or Michigan than Dan Beebe has in common with a man of even a slight intellect or tact. No more Miami booster parties and sluts for recruits. No more Cecil Newton's getting paid and the NCAA turning away as Auburn benefits from actions that every person in America knows is crooked. Just football, with a playoff where every conference gets at least one bid and we play them down. Winner is the National Champ. The contortions and acrobatics that these crooks engage to manipulate the system to maintain power is astounding. We clearly can't beat them. They just move the goalposts when we get close. We are made subject to insults (even good teams like BSU) just so they can feel better about their cartel. The madness has got to stop.
