So, does Smith break 3000 passing yards next seasons?

Considering he was 200 yards short with missing 2 1/2 games, I think he very well could.

Brett Smith Wyo 10
Passer rating 157.7
Attempts 330
Completions 205
Pass percentage 62.1
Passing yards 2837
Avg per game 283.7
Yards per attempt 8.6
TDs 27
Ints 6

Tack on 6 more rushing and 248 more yards on the ground (sacks cost 200+ yards).

33 TDs to 6 ints.

A better question is, with the incoming players who we signed and are coming off of redshirt seasons, does our offense do anything in the second half of games? And does our rush defense actually stop the run?

I think that Brett Smith, if he stays healthy puts up stats that are the best a Wyoming QB has ever done in 1 season.
But I agree with Aaron, I just want wins.

Absolutely. Assuming he stays healthy, which is no given. But who knows? All UW had last season was the long ball......teams will adjust.

And I don't think it is the players that will help us put up points in the 2nd half. That has got to be the coaching staff.

If Brett Smith can go out and throw an 81 yard TD pass against Texas to start the game, I think he can do it in the 2nd half.
2 years ago @SDSU remember that game? The tale of 2 halves. We won the first half 30-0, then SDSU won the 2nd half 27-0
Luckily, we won the game.
If we have the players to make the plays in the first half, then we have the players for the 2nd half.

If he plays all year injury free yes, if we have a strong o line that gives him time e finishes with over 3500.

Yes.

Next question.

Next Question?
Does Wyoming and DC finally pull the shit together and upset Nebraska? And if so, do we contend for a MWC title?

We may not have a strong D but if they win the games in a shootout, it still counts.

Answers: No and no.

Shootouts only happened against the craptastic teams. Smith and co were dominated by the better teams on the schedule. Offense only surpassed 30 points 3 times. Not as explosive as some make it out to be.

The Poke's defense will have to vastly improve to have any chance verses the corn farmers. Also, the O-line will have to protect Brett much better. Other than that, I don't see why not... :)

I think we were a pretty explosive team, in the 1st half. Not the 2nd half.

I think upsets can happen and we can beat Nebraska without total upgrades, but I don't think we win the conference without total upgrades.

I think heath is key. Robert Herron, when healthy is very dangerous, but he hasn't been healthy a full season since being here. Losing McNeal will hurt but hopefully Claiborne and some of these red shirt freshman can step up big. If they get them to step up and somone fills McNeals shoes then he should get there.

Key will be consistency. The team shit the bed in the 2nd half every game this season. They need to play a full game every game or it will be another long season.

If our defense is even mediocre, Brett could throw for over 4,000 yards. Imagine if the defense could have gotten a few more 3rd down stops and given Brett 4 or 5 more possessions per game.

I have no expectations for next year. DC has done nothing the past 3 years to lead me to believe that we have any chance to be competitive in our conference. Everyone knows it starts with O line and D line. I am not drinking the koolaid this year men. I am pissed that we have NEVER won an MWC championship. NEVER!!! and that Sucks...We are Wyoming. Go Pokes.

Just last year we placed 3rd behind TCU and Boise. And have gone to two bowls in 4 years. I know this past season was a complete failure, but we are on the right track for the most part.

I like what we have returning and what we've recruited so far....especially the JUCO guys who are all enrolled.

I'm pissed we've never won a MWC title too. When I was in school we won 3 or 4 of them (WAC titles). And, we can get back to that level as early as next year.

And we were possibly 1 Tank Carder hit on Brett Smith away from being co-conference champs with TCU & Boise St., two programs who have won BCS Bowls in recent history.

imo, i think he'll be wonderful and perhaps potential Heisman Trophy talk, not saying he'll win or get there but what the heck...Go Brett Go Pokes. Regardless the fact it's time for us to win a MWC Championship for a change
