So...Cade Smith

Has anyone heard anything about Cade Smith recently?
I know we offered mini-Brett a while ago, and he now has interest from over half of the Pac12, but we are his only offer so far.
But of course, he is going to be a Jr. this fall and in the next two seasons will get a lot more interest if he is anything like his brother.

I am just curious if anyone knows anything about it. Like if Brett has said that he wants to come or doesn't.

Way too early to know. I'd be cool to see a Bramlet brothers take two....but if Cade is anything like his bro talent wise, there is no way the Beavers don't do everything in their power to keep the local product home. Sometimes that Pac-12 logo on the chest trumps all arguments in west coast recruiting....

I asked his dad about 6 months ago via twitter and he gave me a pretty general answer (understandably). He said Cade has had a lot of interest from a lot of schools and he is just weighing his options. Would be an amazing "get" for the Pokes, and it's not out if the realm of possibility if Brett can finish strong with a solid team around him. I think the best chance the Pokes have at getting him is to improve the offensive line for Brett. Pokes get 10 wins this year and next year then i think we will have a real shot. Beating Oregon next fall would also help :)

Sorry to say, I don't see Cade coming to Wyoming. Of course I've never seen him play, but if he's as good as the headlines, I can't imagine that so many schools will make the same mistake twice, especially the PAC 12 schools. If we had to go up against just one of them, then maybe. But if gets multiple offers, I don't see it. Plus, if Brett keeps trending the way he has, Cade might not want to play in his brother's shadow. I think the Smith era ends with Brett.

Sadly....I agree with this statement. I guess you never know though!

If Cade goes to the Beavers obviously I wouldn't be bummed at all, but the Beavers run a pro style offense. I have seen a recruiting site that said Cade is a pocket passer (good for OSU) and one that said he is a dual threat, like Brett (good for Wyo, and the Ducks).

And yeah I have heard he is bigger, stronger, and faster than Brett was at his age, and I don't see teams making the same mistake twice. Brett had high interest from a lot of schools but they didn't think he was quite good enough. Which amazes me as he was the Oregon 6A player of the year, playing in Salem. How did Mike Riley or Chip Kelly not make the short drive to Salem to watch him play? And if they did, was his size really the only drawback?
If that WAS the case, with Cade being bigger, they won't be so hesitant to offer him.

Yeah getting Cade would be huge, and with all the interest he has after just 2 seasons, I can't imagine how the recruiting is going to blow up for him his JR and SR seasons.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ducks, Beavers, and Cowboys were on his final 3 in the end.

At this point who would be a bigger grab, Taven Bryan or Cade Smith? I would have to say Cade.

This right here should be proof in the picture that no way Cade comes to Wyo.

Those are some big names showing him interest and he looks like he is bigger than Brett right now.

Letters don't mean squat. I once was at a friends house, and he had letters from like 10 major schools (Florida, Texas, LSU types) framed on his wall. The reoccurring theme was that they were just feelers. None of them went on to offer by the way. If you have the stats as a Soph / Junior, you are going to get letters that schools send out blindly.

His size and play those are more than just feelers some school is going to be very lucky to land him. I think he owes the majority of that to Brett because w/o Brett doing what he has done I really don't think his brother would started pushing so hard.

Like I've said before, I'd be surprised if Cade passed up on Oregon St. The Beavers won't miss that chance a second time. They almost never lose Corvallis kids.

The Smiths are from West Salem not Corvallis although they are close. And on top of that, the Dad played football at UO, and the Ducks run the spread, while the Beavers run a pro-offense, and Cade Smith is a dual threat QB like his brother.
I think the Ducks are going to go after him harder than the Beavers.
But I would be cool with him playing for OS. ;)
