Utah, Illinois, and North Dakota can't have any Native American imagery or nicknames but FSU can have a white dude dressed up as a Native American throwing a flaming spear into the ground? Sounds about right...

The Ivy League will be just fine...only about 15 FCS schools jump up and that leaves over 100 FCS schools playing for the FCS championship still (but in actuality only about 65 schools because about 35 schools don't either participate in the FCS playoffs or don't offer the full complement of schollys?)...

Interesting point.....why is it that the use of these names offends some, but not others? Maybe because America had something to do with the Native Americans' demise, whereas the Spanish were at fault for the Aztecs dying off? No uproar there that's for sure...

I have......about all indigenous peoples to the Americas or around the world really.
But I mostly just stick to my own heritage and say that others peoples will have to speak for themselves.
I say if it's a race, ethnic group and stuff like that then don't use it as a mascot.
It's one of the things I have spoken out on.
I've been called a lot of nasty things for sticking up for us.
You may not believe or understand how many children cry and are deeply hurt by how their people are mocked as mascots.
They go into a downward spiral and start to underachieve.

The NFL's Washington team is the worst going global with their bullshit using the most racist word to indigenous tribes that exist in English as a "mascot" name/ID.
If they went by "the N word" I bet the prez would not stand for it.

Having a team named after heritage is the opposite of honor. It's wrong. It's ownership. It's like a slavery because that people own their name and represent themselves and not a team. So tribe X has the right to their name and how they represent themselves and not a team. I learned a lot about that from Alyssa over the years because we share tribal heritage.
