And aside from football, what does BSU bring to the Least? SDSU has the market, but football is only recently decent, and basketball is only alive thanks to a guy that only has a few more years left in him.
Its not like they have many options.....the Big East is scrambling like everyone is....and will kill off the MWC in the process. The conference may look stupid geographically, but adding a "Western Division" was a smart move to knock out the already dying MWC.

None of this gonna look pretty. A glamorous perception is out of reach for all the non-major conferences. Its about survival....and this ripple effect has already claimed one conference...The only way this ship doesn't sink is if the harsh reality some have feared comes true: The elite conference separate themselves from us "non-BCS conferences" and create a whole new level of football.

Pac-12, SEC, Big Ten, etc. = Division I football
MWC, C-USA, etc. = Division II football

These are shitty times to be a college sports fan....even those that root for the bigger schools will not like what transpires in the future....

So.....maybe just let the big boys have their own system......and have this new 1A-lite version have a playoff system? Because without a creative playoff or something.......it seems to really be killing a lot of schools.

*And it wasnt that long ago the Mtn West was playing thursday night football games on ESPN...........

The "big boys" have always had it there way....no team in the non big six have any chance of winning a true national title. Under my system if for some reason say Utah has a really really good team with an up and coming head coach and the go on to win their division and then their conference they would have a seat at the table....instead utah would play in the Meineke Bowl.

my manifesto thread over at sjsu got banned. twice? is it that crazy to think that the Big East is gonna do everything in there power to keep their new prize (boise) in their new western pod?

You've posted your manifesto thread on every non-BCS teams message board.....probably a reason they banned you.

No just the football playing WAC schools, Delaware, and Youngstown State.

They banned it probably because they have a hard time believing that schools like Wyoming and Colorado State are having a hard time with getting used to the idea of playing SJSU instead of Utah and TCU?

Translation: Control ESPN and you can control ALL of Division I!

And the Court told the NCAA that they had to leave their hands off the Mother Ship--all except Byron "Wizzer" White who had played a little football at CU and in the NFL. It seems that he predicted that TV would ignore ticket sales and kill college football.

You do realize, Wyokie, that your neighbors down there can claim credit for this fiasco.

As for me, I am mostly interested in what MWC teams are in Laramie this year and what margin CSU loses the boot by this fall.

Actually both Oklahoma AND Georgia started this whole mess. Another reason to fucking hate OU!!!!!

If I had to root for one school here, I'd take Oklahoma State in a heartbeat. OSU kinda reminds me of Wyoming a little.

Breaking news (for you, anyway): Utah has joined the PAC-12. They even played a full season in it and nearly won their division.

Just thought I'd bring you up to speed...

I'm well aware that Utah is in the Pac-12...i was merely stating that a couple of years of ago when Urban Meyer was their head coach they were undefeated i think and were left out of playing for a national title. I bet utah fans back then would have loved a true playoff format?

Just thought I'd bring you up to speed...

How, exactly, did OU start the "whole mess", yet never leave their own conference?

Also? The lists of rules are way funny. Made me giggle.

They and Georgia sued the NCAA over T.V. Rights. Back then, the NCAA did all the T.V. contracts plus had a rule stating that all schools had a max. of 7 appearances per year (not coming bowl games).

Both schools won the lawsuits and it allowed each conference to make their own T.V. deals along with allowing Notre Dame to ink a long-term T.V. deal with NBC.

by not leaving their conference and letting the Big 12 live on. Would have been sweet if it died.

so if clemson and fsu go to the big 12 and boise and sdsu go back to the mwc who does the acc go after and does the mwc regret adding usu and sjsu? in my opinion montana and msu in the future would have been two teams i would have added to the mwc if needed instead of usu and especially sjsu?

does the acc go after rutgers, louiseville, c florida, or s florida? if so does that mean the death of the big east as a football conference unless they raided conf-usa?

C-USA, aside from Southern Miss (small market and over shadowed by Ole Miss and Miss State) and Tulsa (even smaller fanbase in a market dominated by Okie State and OU) doesn't have much left in the way of quality teams. ECU controls it's market, but that market is comparable to the Laramie -Cheyenne market. All that's left out East is either more FCS teams, decent teams in highly diluted marets in C-USA, crappy teams in diluted markets in C-USA, or the incredibly diluted and mostly crappy MAC teams. Money is not going to be there to enice other programs out West to join up, especially football only. SDSU got into a bus league for Olympic sports while BSU is now learning that Olympic sports do in fact matter (no one wants their shitty Olympic sports without a huge buy-in).

All the remaining teams that matter in the Least are actively and publicly looking for a way out. The only ones not are Houston, SMU, Temple, and UCF. That alone is spread out, but than include in the basketball only schools, it gets worse. Throw in SDSU and BSU, and you have a travel nightmare with saturated markets and regional fanbases. TV money will be looking at that and see that the payout is dropping faster than USU scored on our defense last year.
