SJSU

Well I guess I should just be saying I’m excited with all the recruits headed our way, improvement in coaching up skill positions, and improvement in the offensive production. I mean the guys on 1240 are way impressed with the OC and what he’s done, it’s just shocking how they rest of us are not..,
It’s a major conflict of interest that the ‘voice of the cowboys’ Keith Kelley chosen by the University, paid partially by the University, and who works the games with University employee Kevin McKinney is the sports director for 1240.

Expecting anything but sunshine and rainbows from them isn’t happening. I doubt Keith wants to lose the position or money.

I don’t get you. Do you literally argue just to argue? Is there a reason you can’t just read the simple spreadsheet? Is there a reason you seem to make up numbers?

This is literally the accounting from the athletics department that shows a column for “football” generating a $3.112 million surplus for FY2022 without figuring in any donations from ‘non specified’ sources which accounts for another significant chunk. The same spreadsheet includes a “ - “ in the numbers for ‘direct state or other government support.’ Do you believe this ‘ - ‘ means something other than $0???

Come on man. This shit gets old. Your schtick and make believe wears thin.
So according to page 9, roughly 6 mill in student fees and direct university support which is taxpayer funded (I'm lumping student fees because that is like a tax). I'm not sure what guarantees are so didn't include them.

What am I missing? Looks like roughly 3 mil in the hole without taxpayers and student fees. Expenses don't include facility costs as I expected. I'm sure there are lots more, so the yearly deficit is probably underestimated.

Odd how angry you get when questioned.

Right…

So now student fees are taxes too? Those are funds equatable to taxpayer funds and thus taxpayers are paying the head football coach through student fees? Your logic is dizzying. What do believe the football team could make in revenues from ticket sales in prime seats behind the home team bench if they kicked the students out and sold tickets privately?

Also - let’s thank the women’s tennis team for bringing in the additional $4.3 million in ‘non-specified’ athletic department private donations. Surely those moneys are from the state’s passionate tennis fans.

Ok, so you don't agree with student fees. What's guarantees? I'm guessing tax dollars but maybe not. Remove student fees it bothers you; still in the hole without counting all the facility support.

I don't know who the tennis donors are or how much they contribute. If you don't either then that's an assumption.

To answer your question about seating and student ticket sales, since total ticket sales are around 2.5 mill and student fees of 1.5 mill, I doubt replacing student seats would generate 70% (roughly) more in ticket revenue.

We're gonna get boat raced. Spartans by 20.
I already put money on Wyoming +12. SJSU has a QB (Brown) that started the year strong, but as soon as Nash started getting double covered, he struggled. He’s also short and had a lot of balls batted down at the line. He’s mobile though and that can be dangerous for teams.

The other QB (Eget) who had a better arm, and is more of a prototypical QB is not as mobile so that run threat isn’t there. I get a lot of insight about players, starters, etc. and I have no idea who the QB will be this week.

Either way, SJSU should be 5-1 right now and should never have lost to CSU. Their only other loss this year was in 2OT at WSU. The schedule has not been tough yet. Last 4 games after the bye week are @ Oregon St then home to Boise, UNLV and Stanford. Last 2 games against Boise and UNLV will determine who plays for the title and the three teams could end up in a tie for the regular season title again like last year. Just have to hope the computers like SJSU a little more this season.

Bohl teams didn't pack it in. Previous coach's teams started packing it in by about now in the season. We'll see but by all indications PBJ's teams seem to align more closely with the latter.

I've never understood the angle of betting against your own team. Sure, we all have a cynical approach to the game since we think we know what will happen based on our extensive criticism. However, won't you be pissed if/when the Spartans do lay the wood and you bet against them? I don't get it...

I will go on record here: this team is nowhere in the same realm of bad as our Koenning teams. They were not competitive in any way. It was a whole different ballgame.
Man, I don’t know. This team probably has more talent, but they are painful to watch. The ASU and Idaho games were two of the most miserable Wyoming games I have ever watched. They left me in such a foul mood. I stopped watching the team after that.

The Spartans are decent, but they aren’t unbeatable. Although I’ve been disappointed so far this season, I can’t help but tell myself that maybe I need to be patient while the team is implementing a different offensive scheme altogether. I was critical of Peasley and then in his second year was undoubtedly wrong about him. None of us are at practice, and if the players that are actually playing are trusting in their coaches, then I will remain cautiously optimistic. Go Pokes! Beat the Spartans!

Vic's team had to play BYU, Utah, and a csewe team that was at its peak under Lubick. If this team had to play that schedule, the results would be the same. In fact, the results may be the same anyway. Unless personnel changes are made, this is a 1 or 2 win team.

I’m still expecting SJSU to win, but I don’t think it’s by 12 points.

In all reality, it’s a win/win for me. If SJSU wins and I win the bet, then I get double benefits. If SJSU wins by more than 12, then the team has regained what it had at the beginning of the year and they’re 1 win away from bowl eligibility. If Wyoming wins, then the school that I have a BA degree from (1.5 semesters from also having an MPA degree) played a great game and might have enough fight left to push for a bowl. I would also win the bet.

I hate when SJSU and Wyoming play because one of them has to lose. At the end of the day, one of my teams win. I have a big SJSU sticker and a big Wyoming sticker on the back of both of my trucks. I also have SJSU and Wyoming license plate covers between the two of them. I have been going to SJSU games since 1987 when I was two weeks old, and my family went there. I started as a student at Wyoming in 2015 and have supported the program since.

I like the fake and go.

Also,

The pass rush/pocket contain and coverage are critical today. The offense won't score but we haven't scored in 11 years. D needs it's MOJO back today.

Depends if Sawvel remains too stubborn to make a change with Svoboda if he plays bad as has been the case all year….. not optimistic.

Will watch the alma mater but not expecting much. It won’t move my excitement meter much if they win and it won’t leave me irritated and sleepless if they lose. The emotional indulgence was erased with the 0-4 start.

The game I am more interested in seeing today is the SDSU/NDSU game with head coach Polasek leading the Bison. I will also check in on the MSU (Vigen) game if Wyoming becomes boring with 3 and outs along with 35% passing completions.

This little part of me will enjoy a victory if it happens. If Sawville inserts Anderson and there is a comeback win it would definitely move the enthusiasm meter in a positive way. Any resemblance of the 5 losses with pick 6’s will be the equivalent of being forced to watch reruns of Edwards final year in hoops.

Being negative I see a 2-10 finish. If we catch fire I could go on the positive side with 3-9 staying the course Sawville said was his plan. That is what watching Wyoming football for multiple decades does and what I am seeing this season as amongst some of the weakest of seasons dating back to the 70’s.

That Monday press conference and the comments Sawville made erased even more of my remaining excitement.

That said I hope to eat crow and will have a couple of 🥃’s if Wyoming wins but my prediction is SJSU 38 Wyoming 17.
