SiriusXM National Broadcast From The War In The Works

Right now I'm shooting for the Boise State game on October 27 -- depending on how this season plays out.

Show would air a few hours before the game and I'd like to see it done in an area that would be available for fans to watch and listen.

We would try and get on as much WYO personnel as possible, Dave Christensen, Tom Burman, Dave Walsh, I'd also like to get some fans on board the broadcast to get some additional thoughts on the air that day -- also be interested in getting the ear of MWC Commish, Craig Thompson, as well as some guys in the media who cover the team on a regular basis.

Would love to have a few WYONATION posters drop by the broadcast location that day.

I have been wondering for a long time what it would take to get game/s broadcast on SiriusXM, because even in Wyoming it is often difficult or impossible in some areas to pick up a radio broadcast of the Wyoming games. This would be a great way for alumni & fans out of Wyoming to be able to listen to this game.

I guess I should clarify, the game itself would NOT be available to be aired on SiriusXM, at least not on the channel that I am a part of.

This would be akin to say a 3-4 hour 'pre-game show', the broadcast would go right up until just about kickoff time...Learfield Sports and the Wyoming Football Radio Network have total exclusivity to the actual play-by-play of this game -- and all others.

In other words, it would be The Dino Costa Show, on location in Laramie from The War on a Saturday morning/afternoon, on SiriusXM Radio channel 86.

This is a great idea Dino. I am actually heading into Laramie for the Boise St. game. Be a great way to have more of a big program type feel for it on the radio. Out here in Seattle the Washington Husky radio pre game comes on about 5 or 6 hours before kickoff and goes all day right up until kick off.

Wyoming needs to do something like this more often. Think this would be a great way to get something going. :thumb:

Ok, I've got it now - not the game, but a large pre-game show. This is a great idea and it would be good to get Learfield Sports to follow your pre-game show up with a broadcast of the game on a SiriusXM channel.

Why don't you make it part of the Wyo Nationl tailgate prior to CSU game? Then you'd have plenty of board members comign to town. Could help make the tailgate a bigger dealo.

That may be a great idea...

Okay, I'll leave it to the family members on the board here.

If I brought my national show to a game this season, would you prefer the big game against Boise State -- or the big game for the bronze boot against CSU?

There is a third option of course, I could leave my show home and just attend both games no muss or fuss.

If you want more Wyonation posters, you'll want to do the Border War. If you want (probably) a bigger overall crowd (meaning the roads are still open) then do the BSU game. Up to you, ultimately.

I'm at every game, so anything would work for me. It would be great radio if you're doing it, that's for sure!

I'm thinking about canning the whole idea.

Frankly I'm more than a little surprised there does not seem to be more enthusiasm for the idea.

Look it, I know its not ESPN Game Day being on campus, but still, it's a national radio show providing levels of exposure & visibility to our team that doesn't come around every day.

I think I'll wait for ESPN to show up in Laramie before I decide to undertake such an endeavor.

This is only a very small portion of UW fans, there are other fan sites. I'm not sure where you don't see enthusiasm people being interested in the idea what more are you looking for?

I think you were just looking for some ESPN type of response and you aren't getting it. Just because people aren't beating the door down on these forums certainly doesn't mean people won't show up at the booth to talk Wyo football.

But it's your show take it as you will.

I think it's a great idea!

Just because I don't post a response doesn't mean I wouldn't be all for the idea. Anything that gives the Pokes more coverage I'm all for.

Hey Dino,

As others have said it is a great idea!

Like Wyo2dal pointed out this is a very small portion of the fanbase on this message board. There is another message board but even with both combined it is still a very small sample.

There are a lot of Wyoming fans that browse both boards that don't ever post and even more Wyoming fans that don't ever come on these boards or know anything about them but do listen to the radio and know about your show.

I think you would be surprised with the turnout if you broadcasted from the stadium, whether you were doing it in tailgate park or somewhere around there. I'm sure Tom Burman and Kevin Mckinney would be more than happy to get more exposure for Wyoming on a national radio broadcast that they wouldn't be able to get most others ways. I'm sure they would be pretty helpful as well getting the word out that you would be broadcasting live to help ramp it up even more.
Maybe you have already spoken to them about this idea and know more about how they feel. Again it's a great idea and would be very well received.

Obviously it is up to you though as you know more of all what it takes to produce a radio show and what goes into it. Hope you end up doing it! Whatever you do thanks for promoting the University as it is very much appreciated! :thumb:

I'm stoked for this kinda of an Idea, the fans in this state may have Sirius XM they just don't know about your show perhaps, Channel 86 from 5-9 everyone!! i love calling in, and hope you do have the backing and decide to go with it, once other Pokes fans that have Sirius XM know about it and may have to "see" it at a game they'll then go full bore with it. Let us know!!!
