This old pg from Adams high school team? The perfect candidate to go all out on recruiting as a walk on. Make him feel as special as possible and show him he belongs here. While showing him that there just isn't a scholorship possible. The fit and this group of players and coaches could be enough. And if not? Well didn't lose anything. Him, Thompson, and Parker Stewart would be ideal. A big 6-5 steady guard/shooter could be a great platoon with Conway and trey Washington next year.
Anybody know if this kids family had the means to make getting him to walk on a possibility?
It's not about the family means necessarily, but rather other factors that would make it unlikely for Calvert to accept a walk-on role at UW, primarily playing time. In the end, he is leaving BYU because he wasn't going to be part of their rotation. Why go to another situation where you won't be part of the rotation? If a staff/program isn't willing or able to invest a scholarship in your services, it will be an uphill battle to earn playing time.
Calvert was a solid mid to high major recruit coming out of HS. He will have D1 scholarship options as a transfer. If we had a scholarship open at the PG spot, I think he would be a decent pick-up regardless of they BYU ties, but I just don't see it happening.
