Careful about what you assume the bottom-end can produce. Take a good look at our record for the three years ended 2002 and then tell me whether any coach can get 4-6 wins constantly.

I also disagree with the claim that a victory over an 8-5 Utah team was our best since 2002. Didn't we get wins over UCLA, Tennessee, Old Miss, and UVA during that period? I also think the win over Fresno State with Mathews in the New Mexico Bowl was pretty solid.

Tennessee, Ole Miss both finished with losing records (Both times for Ole Miss). UVA went 9-4 that year didn't they?

UCLA went 6-6 that year that was a shit awful team, See what settling for mediocrity has done to us? We beat Ole Miss in 2004 the year they went 4-7 so no that wasn't a quality win. We also beat Ole Miss in 2005 when they went 3-8 so same result not a quality win at all. The UVA team we lost to in 2006 went 5-7 and that Fresno State team we beat they were 8-5 but they beat shitty teams and lost to good teams.

The 2006 win over the Utes was against an 8-5 team that also beat TCU who went 11-2 overall so IMO that was a better win than against a bunch of team with losing records.

I actually believe that we have been so satisfied with a shitty product for so long we don't know what a winning team looks like.
