We really, really need a scheduling committee in both football and bball. If you are going to include SOS in post-season analysis then you need some oversight to ensure equal opportunity at a decent SOS---at least for OOC.
This is why I'm for some federal oversight into college athletics. It simply isn't fair to criticize our SOS on one hand and then not be willing to schedule us on the other.
I absolutely hate the idea of the Federal Government having anything to do with college basketball but you bring up a great point. Teams like Wyoming, Boise St., etc. get ragged on all the time for not having a great SOS but people refuse to schedule them. Its not like Shyatt isn't to boost the SOS. The teams with the SOS don't want to play us and risk a loss. This system is broken.
I'm not a pro-big gov person either. However, in college athletics, the system is designed to keep the highest level of competition reserved for the P5 schools as much as possible and the P5 schools run the show.
The only way to get equality in college sports is federal intervention. It won't happen any other way. Those who benefit most are running the show and will never release that control unless forced to with a pretty big hammer.
