Should've won by 30

Glad we got the W. BUT......CSU played one of the worst games I've seen by any team in the NCAA this year. They shot 18 of 60 FG. 3 of 25 from 3! 9 of 17 free throws. CSU looked horrific. But yet the final is a respectable 59-48?? Hankerson has missed his last 25 shots.... That's hard to do!! Adams went 1-8 in another bad performance. Thank God for Nance's huge 3 before halftime. CSU was just begging us to bury them but sadly we squandered opportunity after opportunity and the lead hovered around 11. The game should have been over early and the final should've read more like 72-45. Thank goodness for some bench points or we may have unthinkably lost this game. SJSU would've beaten CSU last night(with our defense). I do give credit to our defense but our offense needs to learn how to put the nail in the coffin or it WILL come back to haunt us.

No, SJSU would not have beat CSU last night.

Is it to hard to comprehend that maybe it is actually WYOs Defense that could be making teams look bad?
Seriously?
How many games have we had where we make our opponent play OUR game? And how many games have we made a decent team look terrible on Offense? Many times. Many, many times.

But even our fans dont want to give us that credit apparently. It seems to mos that our opponents just seem to have off/bad nights when they play us...

Give me a break!
It's sad that even when we win, we always have another thread our two that is set on complaining.

Now, it is true I doubt we'll end this season with a win -- or at least I hope we don't, in the sense that we're in the NCAA tourney and get bounced by UVA or something.

But, good God, what do we want in the meantime?

Last night I sat in a fairly rocking AA, watching us against our well-regarded arch-rival, and...we never trailed, smothered and frustrated them with our defense, were coached like a dream, with unlikely player combinations on the floor, and every one them contributing in startling ways, with 10 point leads that might as well have been 25.

Fantastic.

If you can complain about that game, well, I can only imagine you winning the Powerball: "I know it's a $180 million lump sum...but, goddamnit, I have to pay taxes on that, you know?!"

The part of the game I watched, we flat out prevented them from getting into their game. They looked bad against us twice because we have the kind of defense they can't solve, and we don't run on offense to give them the chance to put together a transition game.

everything was just right last night, the crowd was into it from start to finish, for the most part, the students were stellar, and we led from start to finish and Liebermann was a B.A, nice spark off the bench...let's get the Falcons now
Jelly Donut is nothing but a bully, but something they can't take away from us, WE SWEPT THE SHEEEEP

Wyoming's defense kept CSU out of rhythm and Wyoming dominated the defensive glass. CSU leads the conference in rebounding margin and we held them -9 when compared to their average.

Did CSU play bad? No. Wyoming played VERY good. We didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but made up for that in great defense.

My only gripe about the game was the same one I've had all year. We get up 10 points and then our guys get cute, trying to make sportscenter plays and they sloppily turn the ball over. If Papa Shy can get the boys to stay focused with a lead and continue to play within themselves, we will win the conference. Eliminate the stupid turnovers and keep the door closed.

I didn't mind the nance allyoop against the backboard attempt . It didn't work but if it did we would be in dunk of the year contention on espn. That's the kind of thing that gets wyoming mentioned nationally.

Also, can you imagine how loud that place would get if they made it work? Wow! Would have been epic.

Maybe I should clarify. I love our defense and our philosophy. But the problem is going to be our inability to score AND put teams away. Last nights game should have been a blowout! We should have won by 30! We kept them in the game and that WILL come back to haunt us if we don't put the nail in the coffin. Its true we get up by 10 and we try to make sportscenter top 10, which didn't work. Let's get up 20 before we get cute. We left a lot of points out there and kept them within striking distance far far too long.

For example:

CSU stats: 18-60FG. 3-25 threes. 9-17 FT. = 59-48 WIN

BUT.....

............................... 5-25 threes (20%). 15-17FT. = 60-59 LOSS

:o

Bury them.... or it WILL come back to haunt us.

The sheep looked good draining threes in pre-game warmups. Confident and relaxed. That body language certainly changed at the opening tip. They looked like they had stage fright offensively all game. Credit that to some good interior defense by the Pokes and the atmosphere, in general, at the AA. The support and energy from the student section was awesome. The Freezer Section would have been proud. Don't know how many were scared away by the roads, but we should've had 10K there last night.

We shouldn't have won by 30 and likely never will, What you should have said is it would have been nice to shoot above 50% instead of the 35-40% range. If we would have shot 50%+ we might have won by closer to 30 but shooting 39% and winning is fine.

We absolutely suffocated them on defense not allowing them to get a shot on during the first 8 seconds like they are known for. We did exactly like the coaching staff wanted us to do and won.

What you are trying to say is if we don't shoot better and opposing teams do shoot better we will lose. We all know this give the defensive effort the credit it deserves we won because of defense and that is what the team is built around and not on 100 point games.

I know it is new, but Defense is making a comeback in college basketball. When played well, other team's scoring goes down.

Most of you cheerleaders are giving the defense too much credit.

Did our defense force Colorado State to miss half of their free throws?? oh wait they did bank one in, I forgot.

Did our defense force Colorado State to go 3-25 from 3-point range? No. They didn't shoot 25 contested 3 point shots. Many of them were wide open and flat out missed.

Again.... if they only made 6 of 25 threes and 12 of 17 Free Throws. WE LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!

"Bury them or it WILL come back to haunt us"

I never felt comfortable until about 3:45 left when we were up 57-42... And I'm thinking great...The final should be maybe 63-48..I can live with that. Nope... We get sloppy and it ends at a respectable 59-48. So now instead of a demoralizing defeat they go home thinking geeeeez... if only we make 6 of 25 threes and 12 of 17 free throws we win!!!

if...if...if...

We "bury" teams with our defense. This means that even if we don't blow them out on the score board, they are still effectively finished.

We simply aren't the type of team that is going to beat ANYBODY by 20.

FFS...we were ahead by more than 10 for the entire second half. That's about as close to perfection as this team is going to get.

If only I knew the power ball numbers I would win the lottery.
