Bohl's made a crap load in incentives this year. I would give him 1.3-1.5m in annual guaranteed salary and give him and his staff some hefty incentives.

Thank the lord that our coaches and athletes only read the other shitty old fucker pay-to-post board, and not this one.

Do you know anyone on that board? I used to read it -- just read it -- before they made people pay for that privilege too.
And...that hot and cold thing: I guess it's the nature of sports fandom in general, and probably worse for us, as every glimmer of hope for football has been cruelly squashed for a long, long time.
I don't see it happening. We may not win out, but I do think Bohl is a coach that doesn't "blow smoke" and knows how to win. He's talked about his "formula" and believe it's working, maybe sooner than even he expected. EMU shouldn't have happened, but these kids have grown light years since that game. I believe we win another three at least and possibly win out - hope I'm not wrong. I think we should be talking about money and how we keep Bohl.wyokoke said:Cause when has that ever happened?Cowboy Junky said:Wyovanian said:Still a bit early for this conversation. If he gets us into the CCG, then we need to start looking at a total package of $2M+ and another $750k to spread around the staff to have a chance of keeping him for another three seasons...
Yeah, it is, but it's the conversation that's going on right now in Burman's office, so we might as well get out in front of it. As long as Wyoming doesn't shit the bed this year, this is coming as soon as the t.v./bowl distribution is determined and the wrinkles get ironed out.
As long as he doesn't crash and burn to finish the season, I think we need to throw every available dollar we can scrape together at him.
How did Sonny Lubick rank, money wise, in the conference?ItSucksToBeACSURam said:If he wins a conference championship this season, YES. He and his staff should all get hefty raises and Bohl should be the highest paid in the league.
If they don't win the championship, a raise is definitely in order but not highest in league.
What, exactly are "Wyo standards" as it relates to the cost of things?stymeman said:Ticket prices are high enough the way they are (by Wyo standards) if he gets paid like you are talking then this will take effect. Guess this is one good reason Wyo is on TV as much as it is, for those that think ticket prices are too high and only gonna get higher. just sayin....get ready for it it's coming. I agree wholeheartedly we need to sign him to a longer term but saying that does happen remember we have a history of being a stepping stone mentality and it's hard to get excited about things when we all know $ talks and if he wants to give it shot elsewhere when that phone call comes, it's the reality of where we live. That's why I guess it's cool to live in the moment and see what happens. GO POKES

Nice work fellas.
I think the consensus among the group is that although the gesture to make him the highest paid coach would be valuable, the investment in money towards the program is the important part. Paying the assistants is the important part.
Some investment in football is coming. Attendance is up by 400,000, with two late season games on the schedule still. We're looking at a probable 1.5 million in bonus t.v. money. There's definitely some money there for a larger commitment by the athletics department to the football program.
I agree with Monty though. I think Bohl would say no to highest paid MWC coach. He wants that money for his assistants. Wyoming definitely needs to flex it's financial muscle towards the football team. Making Bohl the highest paid coach would come at the expense of the assistants. Monty's right. That would be more important to Craig.
The gesture to Craig Bohl is important. It's important for him to know that he's important to us. It's important for potential new coaches to know that there's money here.
In the end, I think Bohl will go back to Nebraska just like Devaney. I know he isn't going to retire here.
Getting a raise in the football coaching budget is important. Someone is likely to buy Bohl out. You get paid whatever he left on his contract on his buy-out. The assistants deserve a raise. Now's the time to up that coaching contract.
I'm betting the assistants will get a nice little bump in salary. Craig will probably get a small raise as well.
Anyway, that was a kick-ass radio show.
Good job Sports Zone.
