Sell the Team

Wyoming football should look at a new way to compete in the NIL era: private money. One idea is selling a private-equity-style stake in the program to a Wyoming billionaire — essentially giving a wealthy investor a chance to “own” part of Cowboy football, like a pro team, and in return provide a major, ongoing stream of NIL support. If Wyoming can’t match big programs dollar-for-dollar, but a single deep-pocketed backer could change recruiting, retention, and the program’s long-term direction under college football’s new money-driven model.

There are plenty of billionaires that would love to own a sports team. Reid Rasner tried to purchase TikTok, why not Wyoming football? There are some big players in this state such as a the late Foster Friess or Joe Ricketts. Imagine the programs UW could compete with if Wyoming football became a billionaires hobby. Why Burman, the boosters, and the athletic department are not rubbing elbows with these guys is beyond me. I've been in sales all my life, I don't mind taking no for an answer, at least I tried. Is UW Football trying?
