SDSU

The biggest game of our season is just 2 days away. I think we've had enough close games and this is the one we finish.

SDSU has always struggled with the Laramie trip and barely survived at both Boise and Utah State, they are due for a loss.

Hopefully the fans and more importantly the students show up! A win over SDSU would be a highlight of the season and put us all over SportsCenter. I'm excited for this one!

Wyoming is going to win.
They can play with ANYBODY and they are probably frustrated with these last 2 losses, and are going to be fired up.

Well, we win if Nance is healthy.

Let us hope the game doesn't come down to what happens in the final 50 seconds, or whether the last shot determines the game.

Have you watched any Wyo basketball this season?

This is an exciting game! Reminds me of Big Monday, Go Pokes!

God I miss being a part of big monday. When we got home games even with the 10pm starts those crowds were rocking. Though New Mexico rolling the ball up the court and hitting the three at the buzzer still haunts my dreams and it bothers me anytime a player rolls the ball like that. :x

I'll make the trek to Laramie as usual, and support and cheer loud and try to make it loud, against this "overrated" SDSU team, we've done it b4 it's time to do it again, as I see this a start of a long win streak from here on out....Let's GO POKES

I apologize to the team & the rest of the fans, but we can't make it for this game - medical reasons. I'm trying to give our tickets to some friends.

Yes, but SDSU wins the close ones. The Pokes don't. If it comes down to the last minute Wednesday and SDSU wins it I want Larry to watch the tape 20 times and then file a written report (not less than three pages) to be turned in by Saturday outlining what went wrong and what he intends to do about it. Grading will be 50/50 on the "wrong/intends" distribution.

The Pokes have won quite a few close games as well as losing a couple close games. I think we all want to win them all.....but at least we can see the team is improving.

SDSU will be a tough game...but one we can win.

Go Pokes!!

Is this the highest ranked opponent that Wyo has ever played in the AA?

I don't think so. I think Utah was ranked either #1 or #2 once back in the late 90s. I remember the AA being packed and I believe we beat them - my grandson got a piece of the net that was cut down.

the new sports guy on K2 said last night that it's the highest ranked team wyo's ever played

must be some kind of moron.....i would imagine that the 1942-43 Hoyas were higher than #5

I'm sure he was referring to in the AA. I remember Utah coming in as a fairly highly ranked team in 1998 (the same year they went to the national championship game). However, they had just lost their first game of the season a week earlier at The Pit, so I'm not sure they were top 5 at the time of the game.

The more important question is...what the hell were we thinking cutting the net down for a non-championship game? That just seems really odd.

They were in the WAC with us at the time and we were playing for the conference championship if I remember right.

The game for the conf. title was in 2002 (MWC).

The game in 98 was great though. That was one of my favorite weekends of all-time. Shyatt's first time around and Pokes knocked off Utah on Thursday and BYU on Saturday in the AA (pretty sure I was wearing a "Shyatt Happens" t-shirt for the latter game, but memories are hazy...). Both were great crowds and the wins put the Pokes in to the bubble conversation.

I grew up with Wyoming basketball, but those experiences during my freshman year at UW played a big role in developing my life-long fandom for UW hoops. I hope our current students are able to enjoy similar experiences.

That chant is such an insult our our team. It is premised on the idea that our team cannot beat a really good team.

I, for one, do not believe that SDSU is overrated. The best team in the country has lost at least one game every year since 1972. When SDSU loses in Laramie it will not prove that they are not a good team, it will simply be more evidence that we are on par with SDSU (in much the same way that we were on par with Ohio State).

When we win, we should be chanting "underrated."
