So how fast was the offense snapping the ball? I thought I heard in the spring they were getting a snap off every 12 seconds. Do they seem to be trying to snap it as fast as Oregon last year?

And the O is fine. They will do fine. O will need to outscore our opponents this year.

Yep, outscoring your opponent is always a good way to win games.![]()
But seriously, the D is going to let almost everyone score on them, and the offense will have to just fire back.
There are not going to be any low scoring games.
No games where the defenses both dominate and the Pokes win 7-0.
While the defense was getting embarrassed, the offense looked like it did against New Mexico, CSU, and UNLV.
They just need to get into better shape I think. Make them run sprints!

So how fast is the offense snapping the ball? How many seconds between each snap on average?
Dutchnation said:I'm discouraged. I hope DC gets this defense figured out. Very excited about our offense however. Sounds like the late pickup of the CU guy was a good thing. But I was just hoping our defense could just be average. I know it's early. I know we have time. But I'm definitely discouraged.
I would say Thompson should do most of that, but the plan is to redshirt Thompson. Does seem risky to put Brett in even more danger of getting hurt.....that happens enough behind the O-Line.BeaverPoke said:And they had Smith doing some designed QB runs, quite a bit at one point. That scares me...

Like I've said, I hope that Wyoming @ San Jose St. game gets on ESPN for a weekday night, cause it will be a 50-something to 50-something type game. Two great passing games who can't stop each other worth shit.djm19 said:Yeah, yeah, smartass. You knew what I meantOur O will have to outscore to win the games, because it is looking like our D aint gonna do anything to help the other team NOT score.

I bolded a statement that I completely agree with. The defense got shafted on some of those extended plays that would never happen in a real game.BeaverPoke said:I don't think we need to over re-act to the defense today. I am not saying they will be good, just that we knew this was going to happen. We all know that the QBs would throw, and they are good at it. The defense played well at times, forcing fumbles, the pick6, and making some stops, but the fact is that as soon as the defense forces a turnover or makes a stop, the offense gets the ball right back and gets to try again. With that in mind, seeing all the passing should not be a surprise.
Plus there was a couple situations where the defense kind of quit the play early because they had the QB so far back and were about to touch the QB and were anticipating the whistle, because obviously no one is hitting the QBs, then there would be a huge pass. Plays that would not have happened in a real game.
I like the 3-4. Just give the defense some time to get into better shape, hopefully by the 31st they are in good enough shape. The linebackers were able to rush the QB and drop back into coverage and play pretty well.
What concerns me the most is the run game, or lack of run game. The ratio of pass to run was something like 2:1 today. They threw it all day. The RBs, need to be better.
Wick looked good, but I think they need to go to him more.
The next scrimmage will be intersting, I hope to see the defense play well for longer than 5 minutes.
Conditioning against a DC offense @ 7220 should get that defense ready to play any quick tempo team don't you think?
