Scouts at practice.

So far there have been a Ravens, Texans, Jets, and Bears scouts at practices in the last 2 weeks.
Who are they looking at?
Smith and Herron?
Even though Smith is probably not leaving early, it can't hurt to get an early look at him.
What other seniors would be getting a look? Potentially Darden if he has a big season?

From my June 25th post on a draft discussion of B Smith: "He won't fit every NFL system but I could see a scenario where a team like SanDiego, Houston or Dallas drafts him to develop to possibly take over in 3-4 years. One could argue that quality athletic QB play is exactly what these 3 particular teams are missing and keeping them from taking that next step to upper level echelon NFL teams." 2 of 3 have already made it out.

If your wondering who they are looking at all you really need to do is ask yourself what do all of those teams have in common? Hou (Aging, immobile QB) Ariz (Aging, immobile QB) NYJ (QB depth issues and overall poor QB play) Chi (Aging QB and lack of quality depth) Bal (Aging QB and depth) and San Diego (Aging and immobile QB depth). I would expect to see Dal, Cin, Oak, and KC, maybe Jax in coming weeks as well. I also believe they are checking out Robert too. Having said that I do believe certain NFL teams see this year (and next) as an opportunity to upgrade at QB and also add quality depth to their position because both classes are fairly deep at the position. I also believe it is becoming quite clear that teams need to have two quality QB's on the roster to make it through an entire season. Assuming he continues to progress B Smith will be a great value pick (2nd-4th rd) for someone looking to upgrade their current position or provide quality depth and groom to take over at some point. The question remains is it this year or next.

Add Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions scouts to the mix. And a Cardinals scout for the 2nd time.

I wonder if some of these guys are making trips all along Wyo, CSU, CU, AFA, and NM to see what is available or if they are coming here to Wyo to look at specific players?

To me it would make sense to come look at MWC players and smaller school players in practice, as they know who each and every big school player they need to watch in the season.
But I really have no idea how the scouting process works for the NFL.

So the total amount of scouts in fall camp alone is:
Baltimore Ravens
Houston Texans
NY Jets
Chicago Bears
San Diego Chargers
Arizona Cardinals
Kansas City Chiefs
Atalanta Falcons
Detroit Lions
Dallas Cowboys
Tennessee Titans

11 NFL teams. 6 AFC teams, 5 NFC teams.

That gets me pretty excited. I wonder if any Wyo team has ever had that many NFL teams coming to scout players in fall camp?

Don't get overly excited by scouts at camp, it's a pretty standard thing. I remember the year we went 4-7 under Glenn, there were at least 6-8 teams with scouts at camp. And that was obviously not the greatest year for us. I hope that we do a lot of "next level" talent, but scouts at camp doesn't necessary mean that we do.

Well, I'm not getting overly excited but it is still something to note. 13 teams so far compared to the 6-8 teams you mentioned.
That year the Pokes went 4-7 was the year following the Vegas Bowl win. The Pokes were looked at as a Top 25 team to some polls for that following season, and had players like Corey Bramlet, Javon Bouknight, Wynel Seldon, Devin Moore, and Micahel Ford.
If the Pokes had won 6+ games last season, like they should have, there would probably be a lot more scouts at practice.

It is a good sign to see that there is something worth looking at up here.

I'm sure NFL scouts are assigned regions to cover. It's their job to know all the talent in a given region and the best way to know it is to see it for themselves. Having a scout at your practice is good not only for the seniors, but the underclassmen as well.
