Schroyer fired

From Twitter feeds:

Schmoldt: Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman to me just now on report that Heath Schroyer had been chief: "No comment." #gopokes

Schmoldt: Burman will have conference call at 11 tomorrow. Schroyer is fired. #gopokes

CowboyJoeClub: AD Tom Burman announced that the contract of head men’s basketball coach Heath Schroyer has been terminated effective immediately.

David Mayberry: AD: "I regret having to make this decision to terminate Heath’s contract at this time, but I feel it is in the best interest of our program"

Oh happy day! The world seems so much brighter now!

Associate coach Fred Langley will take over for the rest of the season.

faaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwk yes!!!!
Dont let the door hit you on the way out you pansy ass puke :thumb:

Now that it's done, I feel a bit bad for him. He was put in a bad spot when his buddy hired him even though he was not the most qualified guy for the job. He was over his head. But he still sucked! I didn't like him. He ran our program into the ground! I am thankful that he got the kids' ass into the classroom, but that doesn't keep your job. You have to win! I hope he lands somewhere he can learn how to be a good coach. I already feel better about our team.

And poke fans can finally have something to cheer about. Let's hope we can turn this program back in the right direction with a new hire.

I feel bad for him from the stand point that it sucks for anyone to lose their job (he is still a person and I am sure he tried his best). It is the best for the program that he was fired and this is definately a move for the better.

Who is going to run the team for the rest of the year? Why was he fired at this point in the season?

David Mayberry Twitter: Schroyer: "Although I am obviously disappointed in the decision to terminate my contract, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as head coach"

CowboyJoeClub: Wyoming’s current Associate Head Coach, Fred Langley, will serve as the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.

Schmoldt: Wyoming players actually finding out now. Sounds like Cowboys won't practice today. #gopokes

Mayberry: If you didn't know that was coming, you weren't watching the Pokes over the past 24 months. But I didn't see today as the day. #gopokes

Mayberry: That would be Dave Rice, BYU assistant. I couldn't see reception for him being very warm given BYU's MWC departure, Schroyer's ties to BYU.

Mayberry: Message from fans for most of the season was a need for a fresh start. A BYU asst wouldn't be it.

Jay Drew: Asked if he has any interest in the Wyoming job, Rice said it is his policy to not comment on any job that is not officially open.

I agree with you on one level. But let's face it, in absolute terms, he makes a hellava lot of money, probably more than 95 percent of the professors on campus. This is the worst stretch of basketball we've had here in at least 30 years. There was no other choice. His contract should not have been extended. In fact, he will still be getting a check for another 2 years, I believe.

Don't get me wrong, he needed to be let go. Your right he does make more money than most people and he did a horrible job of coaching. There is no where to go but up from this point and I hope TB can make the right hire this time.

I know alot of people like Dave Rice at BYU, but I hope we don't hire him. We don't need another BYU assistant.

They all say "His best season was 2008-2009, where he went 19-14" They never mention that a good chunk of those wins were against high school teams...lol

He needs to land at a small school and gain some experience, I think in the next 5 years he may be a pretty good coach.

I feel like the players are upset about this, Desmar Jackson and Afam's facebook profile pics are ones with Heath in it

Once fans return to the AA and show the players some love, they'll all be like "Heath who?" ... hopefully
