When a player on scholarship quits his team do the scholarship dollars stop or are they paid out through the semester?

If you quit mid semester you don't get any money back from the tuition you've already paid. Scholarships are paid at the beginning of the semester. It's not that they're still being paid, it's that the payment has been made and there is no refund to be had.

I know with football the players get around $1100 a month cash stipend to afford apts, food, ect. I was just wondering if that part stopped.

I would hope that part stops.

I'll go further and say they should have to start paying their way immediately if they stay in school through the end of the semester. Let their parents start footing the bill vrs. CJC members.

$1,100 a month? You sure about that? I know the stipends used to be paid twice a semester. School is already paid for although I believe in the past you still they still got the stipend. Curious because if they were in the dorms...they obviously get to stay and keep meal plan so I'm fairly certain nothing changes.

That's what a player told me a couple years ago. Don't know if it was paid monthly, but they do get cash since the NCAA won't let them have a job during school.

They get whatever it is to stay in the dorms with a roommate and meal plan......unless rules have changed

Isn't that just for freshmen as far as having to stay in the dorms? Then after freshmen year you can live off campus? Not really sure how it all works. But I did have Brian Hendricks and Oliver Schrober(sp) tell me they got $1100 a month cash stipend as part of their scholarship.

I'm not sure how it is now but it has been like that in the past, Off campus you are still allocated a certain amount of money for living.

It would make sense to me if the stipend was the cash value of dorm + meal plan.

In some college towns, I believe that the cost of living off-campus is higher than on-campus. I do not know whether the relative costs are inverted in Laramie now or not.

I think the NCAA rule is worded something along the lines of: a stipend to equal the average cost of living (room + board)for the average student. This is why a player at UCLA is probably getting a bigger stipend than one at UW.
