Schedule is Out

All football teams have a range of possibilities. Sure, 2-10 is baaaad. But it's not like Wyo was the Paul Wulff era Wazzu Cougars losing 52-0 every single week. The difference between 5-7 and 2-10 will likely be a handful of quarters and crucial plays.

I think Brian Hill is talented enough to carry this team to 6-6 if needed. Very optimistic to me is anything north of 6-6. That's where homerism is showing up. I'm not saying 6-6 is likely, but I don't think it's crazy.

Opening day is everything. Have bowl hopes? They have to beat NIU. We'll know right away if this is the year the program turns the corner or if this is another step in the process.

It isn't crazy at all. Not here to try to change opinions, but getting to a bowl is doable. And, I don't think we need to beat UNI in order to go to a bowl. Yes, it would help, but isn't necessary. I do think we will win however.

Go Pokes!!

Enough about the roadkill that is the Beavers though, how many Wyoming football games did you actually watch last year? I watched 10 of 12 and they're a lot closer to getting wins than reading the box score might indicate. Lack of depth hurt last year against Air Force. If Allen doesn't get hurt, we beat Eastern Michigan. I will admit the three games we had poor showings were Boise State, Utah State, and San Diego State. But moving forward, we graduated 8 seniors? Who besides Eddie Yarbrough will be greatly missed? It's all about talent, experience, and depth moving forward. While they might not jump to the conference this year, there are going to be more positives than in years past. Rome wasn't built in a day and it's hard to build a football program in a couple of years if you aren't a team like Alabama. But that's just my :twocents: .

That's crap. They were down 42-7 at halftime or some shit. Josh Allen doesn't play defense.

I guess there is a chance of going to a bowl. About as much chance that Loyd Christmas had of banging Mary Swanson. Sure our defense might improve a ton, but we were so behind the 8 ball last year that we got trucked by a team that hadn't won an away game in thirty years and an fcs team. So even if it improves drastically we would be a below average to awful defense ( instead of historically bad). I would be pumped for 5 wins.

NIU may have been trucked by Boise, but that team would be a top contender in the MW.
For some teams the difference between 2-10 and 5-7 might be a handful of quarters and crucial plays, but not when you lose by an average of more than 19 points each game like we did last season.

Yes that's exactly what I said when someone said that they were close to getting a few more wins.......exactly what I said , that's kind of funny.

I guess you don't know that scoring and moving on the offense prevents the offense from scoring, but that doesn't surprise me.

Alabama plays Boise st but punts on first down every possession, who wins?

What you crying about? I almost wrote the same response to your post

The best thing about this year is last year is over. New hopes. I think we win 7 this year. Craig Bohl shortcuts his system a bit knowing how bad the athletics match is looking right now and the pressure behind all of that. He knows he has to get to a winning season to get some heat off the athletics department. I think he sacrifices some future wins for some wins this season.

Im worried about defense like everyone else but with Hill, Gentry, Maulhart, Hollister, big offensive lineman and Allen we should have one of the best offenses for moving the chains and keeping our vulnerable D off the field much longer. I expect this season to have a min 5 wins and the rest within 10 points or less. Wyoming has all the tools on offense this coming year. Vigens job should be on the line to produce with so much talent.

I am usually pretty optimistic about the Cowboys but last year's team in my opinion was the worst team I have watched in 27 years. (1988 was my first time watching the pokes play).I watched North Dakota completely dismantle us. Eastern Michigan ran all over us. I was sitting behind their bench and kept hearing how easy that was for them. They kept saying how fun it was because they could break one just about every play. I laugh when we talk about San Diego state having a hard time in laramie. That hasn't happened since Marshall Faulk was playing. I also laugh when we think Josh Allen is like the Wentz kid from NDSU. He couldnt beat out Cam coughman last year so what makes us think he is going to get us to the next level. To sum it up our wins last year were closer to loses than our losses were to wins. I really don't think we win more than 1 game this year. That kills me to say it but last year really gave me no hope.

How much money you want to bet on that?

My personal opinion is that Allen was probably a better quarterback even last year but took too many chances to make Bohl comfortable. I think Bohl would rather have 10 TDs and 4 INTS instead of of 20 TDs and 10 INTs. Same ole same ole. Don't gamble on O, don't gamble on D. With our shitty D, I would think we would want to gamble a bit. A 4 and out is almost as bad as an INT

The drive and a half Allen played had much more diversity and resembled NDSU more than when Coffman played. I think if Allen doesn't get hurt he keeps the quarterback job after that week.

We face all the best teams at home this season, we don't have a home field advantage and haven't since the early mid to late 90s. I'm very down on this team as of right now, if we get to 4 wins it may be a miracle this year. I just don't see how our defense improves enough to be competitive. I hope I'm proven completely and utterly wrong, but my gut tells me it will be another long 13 weeks.
